A few pundits (Bill Galston, to name one) are now broaching the idea of censure as opposed to impeachment, both recognizing the futility of an impeachment effort and suggesting one way for conflicted Republicans (what few there may be) to weigh in against Trump.

Didn't realize this until yesterday, but the Senate Republicans get to run the trial. Didn't know they can subpoena anyone for under oath testimony. Lot's of Russian collusion players to bring in. Wonder how far that is going to go? Dems better take over the Senate.

Cocaine Mitch said he would start the trial right away if Pelosi goes for impeachment. Dems are going to have to wait until next term and hope they win the Senate, or they got nothin.

It seems the intelligence community just last month secretly nixed the requirement that whistleblowers must have direct knowledge of wrongdoing before they can file a complaint. Now, hearsay evidence is permitted.

This must be a coincidence. The timing isn't suspect at all and we know the intelligence community would never work with establishment members of Congress to undermine a POTUS.

According to Mike Murphy there are 30 Republican yes votes on impeachment in the Senate. Jeff Flake says there are 35.

Do you really think it was meant to be parody. That fucker didn't play the parody card until after he got scorched on social media. He thought it would be taken as fact after being reported by CNN and MSNBC. The Washington scum believe Americans are so stupid that nobody would realize he was full of shit. That's just how out of touch and arrogant they are.

They view themselves as rulers, not representatives. They view the people not as constituents, but as the enemy.

Lol. Hearing they just happened to change the whistle blower form to include hearsay! Gotta love the timing. Poor hapless group unknowingly changed the standard and BAM! A new request.

How fortuitous.

I don't see why that matters anymore. It's as if it is unfathomable that a Rep can investigate a Rep or a Dem can investigate a Dem. We're so politicized that it simply doesn't matter. :twocents: It could be Mitch leading the investigation and the Reps would knock him, eat him alive and treat him horribly.
It shouldn't, but it did in jellybelly's other thread. :coffee:

I love how badly this is imploding for the donks. The "transcript" isn't really a transcript (because the call wasn't recorded), and Trump was talking in code like an organized crime boss, then politicos making up quotes because there is nothing there...oh the desperation...

...at least jellybelly has some company in keeping this thread going longer than it should be this time around.
Schiff tweeted about Trump withholding military aid to Ukraine 2 weeks before the whistleblower complaint was made aware to Congress...hmmm....but we are being told all the proper procedures were followed regarding this issue...which of course has now been conveniently modified...
Schiffs fictitious call summary:

And for a dose of whataboutism:

The problem for those of you that want to go down that road is that the complaint is totally consistent with the memo with notes on the conversation. So you can say it was "hearsay" but the "hearsay" is seen to be accurate. The complaint's claim that the memo was unusually placed into a higher security storage system has also been shown to be true. It's kind of hard to attack the "hearsay" thing when stuff keeps coming out to validate the complaint.

What the intelligence community might do, BTW, is let those of us that are blind to it at this point know that we have a complete nut job atrocity who is doing all sorts of unacceptable things as President right now. Or at least they can try.

Looking forward to it. All that's been happening is that the Whistleblower report has been being validated. I look forward to your argument as to why you think that is not true. Because it IS true.

BTW there is nothing in the statute requiring direct knowledge. All it requires is ""information with respect to an urgent concern." Everything that has happened except for the DNI withholding the report from Congress for more than 7 days has been consistent with the statute.
