Mmmmm…..I highly doubt that. Most of those folks (the DiCaprios, Perrys, Pitts, Jolies of the world) are about as vacuous as it gets.

I am surprised you even know what the prosperity gospel is. Just for the record, imho it sucks.

You'll come to find I spend an inordinate amount of time evaluating and criticizing Christianity around here
and I'm focused on all variety of Christian hypocrisy... which are too numerous to list

Bet the Russian Bolsheviks in 1917 didn't stand around arguing about gendered language and privilege.

Did you have any religious upbringing of any kind? Serious question.

Absolutely
I was raised Episcopal (Catholic lite)
and at one point I had completed my acolyte training and enjoyed that

I'm certain that my immersion in Biblical teachings is the reason I'm not a Christian
Like Penn Gillette says: Once you actually read the Bible it's pretty easy to be atheist

I'm not an atheist...
but I think they have a stronger argument than Christians do

I've never thought much of that kind of argument. Someone can live in the world as it is and argue for changing the world. If some celebrity uses a jet to go to a meeting where the idea is to seek a change in the way things are done globally I think it's ridiculous to make a big deal over them using a jet as transportation.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

Except they’re arguing for YOU to stop using jets as transportation. Along with cars, trains, etc. ZERO fossil fuels is now their mantra.

I killed a yellow jacket nest a week ago and it looks as if some of them lived. Been flying in a different entrance, but tons of them are affected. Noticed a shit ton of dead ones by the new entrance, crawling on the ground and just acting unlike a yellow jacket.

Not real keen on killing them...again, but have to as it's too close to the house.

What they're arguing for is changing the rules that affect everybody. They are going by the rules as they are now while traveling to locations to argue for changing the rules. They are not arguing that they should be treated any differently than anybody else if and when the rules are changed.

This kind of thing...talking about methods of transportation used by people arguing for changing rules in order to address perceived climate change... is and always has been a red herring. It's an effort to distract attention away from discussion of the substance of the issue.

I won't use them. The bags I get, whether plastic or paper, have value to me as I put them to use.

A couple of years ago the woman in front of me at checkout has a full cart of groceries. She hands the bagger a giant wad of folded up reusable bags. The poor kid was struggling to fill them because they would not stand up and the straps kept getting in the way. Once I got up to the cashier, she says sorry to me for it taking so long. I said something like "That's the price we all pay for saving the planet one bag at a time."

It just flew out of my mouth and it wasn't until later that I realized how neutral that statement is, even though it was meant to be critical on reusable bags. If attacked from either extreme, I could pivot my defense accordingly.

I don't use them because I never remember to bring the one bag I have with. Besides, how else am I going to get free garbage bags?

Totally this. I’ve had several in my rig for years. Never used once... while driving a gas guzzling Canyonero. I’m like the jet set celebrities!

You need to burn a few tires to catch up to those guys. :coffee:

I just end up grabbing a box and then when done with it use it as something to lay on when I am crawling under a vehicle to change oil.
