It may not seem like all that much but someone who did that in high school is not stupid. That fair is a competition among top students from all over the world. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Conservatives dismissing her as stupid are doing so at their peril.

BTW, the idea that cow farts are a problem is fairly old and is well accepted in the Climate Science community. People who ridicule her for talking about it are showing their own ignorance. Here is a Popular Science article from well before this current episode involving AOC on the issue:

It's fine to have doubts about the effects I guess. But when she talks about cow flatulence what she is actually showing is that she is educated with respect to the issue. People who yuk it up thinking what she's saying about it is absurd are actually showing how uninformed THEY are.

But I have little problem with some people ridiculing the cow farts ... both parties have their share of people who are willfully bathed in ignorance and ridiculing how cow farts are killing the earth is exactly the same fact challenged strategy as ridiculing people on the right who say we have a debt bomb on the horizon. You cannot factually explain these things to 80% of people in this country and keep their attention because they won’t understand it.

Yes, that is a very elitist point of view on my part. I am very cynical about the progression of the breadth of human knowledge only having a repository in a small portion of the population.. but it is a fact and I don’t see a way around us all becoming more and more ignorant in the name of social and economic justice.

My problem with AOC’s politics is that she IS smart in some ways, and she plays on the ignorance of her base to paint a picture of a utopian America where our entire economic system has been radically changed to a command system- one that discourages achievement and hard work. THAT’S why I ridicule her- because she is dead wrong. If other people ridicule her for simpler, more mundane reasons like “cow farts” then fine. I’m not going to get too bothered over that if rational opposition to her is augmented by irrational opposition.

The Beltway press mostly can’t stand her. A common theme is that, as a self-proclaimed socialist, she should be roaming the halls of Rayburn and Cannon in rags or a barrel. Washington Examiner reporter Eddie Scarry tweeted a photo of her in a suit, saying she didn’t look like “a girl who struggles.”

High priest of conventional wisdom Chris Cillizza, with breathtaking predictability, penned a column comparing her to Donald Trump. He noted the social media profiles of both allow them to “end-run the so-called ‘media filter’ and deliver their preferred message… directly to supporters.”

Both of these guys sound like assholes, but I think there's a chance of that, yes.

Guaido is a democratic socialist so 1) it's ironic that the hotair piece uses Ilhan as a vehicle to denounce socialism and democratic socialism as one in the same while begrudgingly admitting that Bernie Sanders called Maduro's a failed regime.

Or that US establishment media is also embracing a democratic socialist in Guaido except...wait for it...he's for opening up Venezuela's oil markets to US companies.

BTW, did you even watch the video clip of Ilhan because she really does a terrible job of going all "Stalin" on the situation as the article implies.
