I'm just sad that all the progress made in the last eight years will practically be wiped away, especially when it comes to healthcare, the environment, and social issues. But I know you guys don't really care or agree, so there's no point arguing it. I can live with Trump, but the regression is the part that really disappoints me the most.

It's just...I don't know...a lot of thoughts are running through my head this morning. But ultimately, I simply come to the conclusion that America, especially rural America, is clinging to a world that doesn't exist anymore and they're too afraid (or lazy) to change with it.

Gays will still marry. The Christian Taliban will be kept in check, and healthcare is as much a mess now as when Obama took office with no current signs of it getting better.

But your last line is the troubling one given your support of Hillary. People like the Clintons and the Democratic establishment abandoned rural america long ago. First with policies like "free trade" and then rhetorically with comments like "basket full of deplorables" and "clinging to guns or religion". In fact, blaming this on "rural America" is also a rather ignorant statement and similar to the establishment hubris. Rural America doesn't have enough votes to swing an election but the "rust belt" full of crumbling cities that still have indoor plumbing and the internet does. Or you could have used the "working class" as many Trump voters actually live in urban areas.

Of course the Republicans also abandoned rural America but they've always avoided talking down to the hoi poloi even as they sometimes punch down. Trump might be full of **** but populist stances obviously resonated.

When Democrats move away from populism and become Republican Lite, this is typically the result.

Bernie understood all of this, maybe because he's from a rural state and actually talks with the "real america". The Democratic establishment only have themselves to blame for nominating Hillary....
Damn Klam

Proud of you, old man- you get it

In my Thai class there's a young millennial woman and since we've been in class for the last ten weeks she's been good for about 2-3 crass comments about white males per week.

This morning I was surprised she came to work but she did.... and immediately went into a rant about the scourge on America that is the white male. Being at the state dept I hear this kind of thing frequently and I just keep my mouth shut because I don't want to be posted to Chad or South Sudan

But this morning I had had it. I told her she should keep talking this way for the next four years and she should encourage her friends to also continue talking this way and that will guarantee a Trump victory in 2020.

These people really don't get it - you call people Neanderthals (deplorable, racist, misogynist, irredeemable, gun and bible clinging simpletons )to their face every day and they're going to elect one to spite you

Exactly...the Libs say Trump is divisive...and they fail to see that their rhetoric is offensive and divisive. Our very existence is appalling to them. It is almost as though we are what kneegrows are to small minded racists. Rather than work with us, or include us, they want us to die off.

They can't see the hypocrisy...hilarious.
