Border apprehensions in FY 2019 were at their highest since 2007:

There's a video nugget at the end of a Congresscritter claiming there's no border crisis, and being corrected in testimony.

Can't believe I heard a Minnesota TV station report that protesters were picking fights with Trump supporters coming out of the Trump rally at Target Center, in Minneapolis.

Just saw this one and noted that the CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan appears to have made an objectively false statement during his exchange with Senator Blumenthal. It's this:
We’re on pace for over 700,000 crossings this year — that’s closer to historic highs than historic lows.
See the graph below from https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2 ... ehensions/. The historic low appears to be close to zero back around 1960. Assume zero. That's 700,000 less than the 700,000 McAllenan was expecting. The historic high is 1,637,000. That's 937,000 higher than 700,000. So, objectively, 700,000 is closer to the historic low than it is to the historic high. Also, you can see that there were a number of years above the 1,400,000 level that would be as close to 700,000 as zero is.

Another thing: 700,000 is relatively low in the context of the numbers since the problem really started. You can see that the annual number was above 700,000 for each year starting at some point in the mid 1980s through near 2010. Something like a 20 year run with more than 700,000 every year.

I don't know if Blumenthal was correct in saying "...are still at a historic low compared to other times in our nation’s history." But 700,000 is relatively low; especially as compared to that portion of history during which illegal immigration across the southern border has been recognized as a significant problem.

And it'd be interesting to try to do some research into the question of whether the apprehensions were so low back in the 1960s just because there wasn't much effort to prevent illegal entry.

Is there something in the article that leads to that? Saying that he is a Christian and that his religion is part of how he deals with his day doesn't cross the line, at least in regards of a government favoring a religion. Talking about religion isn't the same as favoring it.

Who's idea was it to put 50 nukes in Turkey? I understand keeping them in Europe, but why Turkey?

Why are "crossings" being compared to "apprehensions"? Is there some assumption that one crossing equals X apprehensions?

Well shit. The media is trying to imply that Trump is stupid because Turkey is now placing our nukes hostage.

Who thought of putting them over there in the first place? I get Europe, but why Turkey?

The President wanted to surprise the parents of Harry Dunn with...the teen's killer:
The family of a British teenager killed in a wrong-way crash involving the wife of an American diplomat said President Donald Trump dropped a "bombshell" during a meeting at the White House, revealing that the woman was waiting to meet them in the room next door.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/harr ... t-n1067246

This is our administration right now. Absolutely no empathy.

And besides the entire White House thinking this was a good idea, WTF is wrong with Sacoolas to agree to this? She's already killed their child and fled, and she thought this was the right thing to do?

Meh. That could have gone either way. I'd want to see remorse in the person rather than not seeing them at all.

You wouldn’t say that if he plugged Islam.

Also, he is not favoring one denomination over another where if you read accurate history that was the purpose of the separation clause.

Now it looks like Sacoolas didn’t know about the plan to bring them together, either.
