I'm not in the evolution is the Prime Mover camp. Life is too wondrous of a thing to have just happened randomly. I think someone or something kickstarted it.

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

Blitzkrieg romance I'm a cool dominator

P-R-I-M-E Prime Mover
Baby You're M-I-N-E I'm The Groover

P-R-I-M-E Prime Mover

I'm familiar with that feeling (The wondrous nature of life)
But that itself might be evolution - and why wouldn't it be..?
it's an evolutionary advantage to be curious and then fascinated and ultimately enthralled...

I'm not entirely against the idea that God put the wonder in life
but that means that God also put the 25,000 dying and suffering children every day here too
and that just doesn't add up

My logical brain dismisses that and says "It was put in motion" and nothing more
thus the wonder and the suffering are a byproduct of that motion not a plan intrinsically

Ultimately if god is omnipotent then God is a fucking monster (period)

I understand where you're coming from. I ask myself does the dying and suffering occur because God caused it or does it occur because God allows mankind to cause it (or most of it)? If it's the latter, we're back at free will.

What would not existing at all look like? Would that be worse than suffering? I don't know, but I also realize that I lack the omnipotence to know.

Okay I'll bite:
Navigating the Christian sliding scale of Godly omnipotence
is so amusing and ridiculous I'll entertain any conversation on that topic

please continue and explain to me Gods omnipotence

Having omnipotence and granting free will is an easy concept. I'm not sure why you think there is a conflict to the point where you have to add (period).

Then why do Christians preach that God effects change..?
Being omnipotent and granting free will
yet simultaneously effecting change seems like a tricky game

Are you suggesting that good chooses "things" to change on earth..?
PEW says 75% of Christians believe god is omnipotent all powerful
I'm just trying to establish "ground rules" for this discussion

Because from this point forward logic, reason and observational truths go out the window for you...

If religions could just freely admit "Faith Alone" was the only ground it can stand on
and that an omnipotent god chooses to do nothing about 25,000 suffering and dying toddlers every day
but makes sure that pastor McDouche gets a new jet

Seems like strange choices for an omnipotent god that loves us...

I'm going to stick with my assessment: If God is omnipotent then he is a monster (period)

Why does your Prime Mover not do anything about the 25,000 suffering and dying children per day?

Because you have reading comprehension problems or have skipped ahead
How would only cause and effect do anything more than explain perfectly what's happening now..?

:ohno:

"only cause and effect" to launch the big bang... the rest is statistics and evolution
