Do you really think that Trump supporters wouldn't completely overlook it if he lied about bigger things (if he hasn't already)? They're all in and they're going to ignore or rationalize anything he does or has done while criticizing his opponents for similar or lesser things (Creepy Joe with 8 allegations of sexual misconduct, but no problem with the 25+ for Trump).CAA Flagship wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 5:52 amWell there's your answer. Not all lies are the same. Some have no effect. Some cover up wrongdoings that are in the interest of the people they are supposed to be serving/representing. While all lies matter, politicians have caused us to adjust the bar within those lies to a new "breaking point" level of tolerance.

Actually, I have a huge problem with that. But if I have to live with a politician lying and remaining in office, it's going to be one with whom I agree on policy issues.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:37 amDo you really think that Trump supporters wouldn't completely overlook it if he lied about bigger things (if he hasn't already)? Who is who in this instance?
I'm guessing that Biden is an Olympic-level liar. I wouldn't say the Trump sucks at lying, he just lies so frequently and doesn't give a sh!t if anyone outside of his ardent followers don't believe him.

For every admitted Trump supporter like you there are probably 9 that think Biden is a creepy sexual predator and Trump isn't. They've drank the kool-aid and think he can do no wrong. I would say he sucks at lying. So bad that EVERYONE knows he's lying...as opposed to Biden or Hildabeast, who've perfected the art and could sell ice to eskimos.

I wonder if we’ll still hear about nepotism and using ones office for personal enrichment once Biden takes office?
Or will his boy just upgrade his biz trips to China from Veep One to Air Force One?

A pedophile liar with horrible policy positions vs A sexual predator and liar with horrible policy positions. Those are two shitty choices.
But they aren't the only choices.

So lefty Ibanez will rationalize a vote for the Libertarian candidate, even though he’s not a libertarian.

Re: 2020 General Election
I don't believe I am rationalizing, there are two bad options and i'm choosing the third. I'm actually in your camp on the whole, 3rd Party thing. People complain about having no option but ignore the third one when it's presented b/c "they can't win." I do wish the Libertarians were more aggressive in local and state elections. It seems they only put the efforts into an election every 4 years.

2020 General Election
I got called a Nazi enabler on FB the other day because of my refusal to vote for the monied parties.
I am a libertarian but I don’t feel particularly loyal to the LP- I think their positions on free trade and immigration are noble, but they only really work when the rest of the world is of a libertarian bent, as well.
But - about this enabling of despots, Commies, Nazis, generalissimos, and other assorted boogeymen by voting 3rd party... if an election involving a Hitler or a Stalin in America is so close that it needs libertarian or Green voters to keep the aforementioned types out of the highest office, then it isn’t the 3rd parties that are the problem.

Re: 2020 General Election
Actually, Libertarians have had electoral success only at the state and local level, and pretty low-level offices for the most part: small-town mayors, city councils, town aldermen, utility boards, school boards, the occasional state rep, etc. Most of us realize that you have to build a party from the ground up. You can’t sashay into an election for federal office and expect instant success, especially the way the system is rigged, er, set up to favor the duopoly.Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 5:12 amI don't believe I am rationalizing, there are two bad options and i'm choosing the third. I get the same sort of shit for criticizing Biden. It doesn't bother me that Bernie isn't the nominee as much as how they did itCID1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 7:59 am I got called a Nazi enabler on FB the other day because of my refusal to vote for the monied parties.
