Regarding obstruction of justice, whatever the hell this means is not a nothing burger:
"while this report concludes that the President did not commit a crime, it also does not exonerate him."
Mueller's investigation leading to other prosecuting offices opening their own investigations is not a nothing burger.
I'll accept that no one willingly colluded if that's the case, but this whole thing is not a nothing burger

Re: Сделаем Америку снова великой! Trump - Russia megathread
Well, I think the way the Attorney general handled the collusion question was deft. I will say that there is a typical leap on the part of many people in that they say the investigation showed "no collusion." It did not. It did not find sufficient evidence to recommend criminal charges for collusion. Failing to find sufficient evidence to support criminal prosecution of guilt according to the "beyond reasonable doubt" standard is not affirmative evidence of innocence. That kind of misinterpretation is, however, common.
The bad thing is that, for whatever reason, Mueller decided not to reach a conclusion on obstruction of justice and instead just laid out the evidence he found pro and con. I don't know if he intended for the Attorney General to make a decision or not. But either way the Attorney General made the decision and then we had an Attorney General who had written an op ed saying the President can't commit obstruction of Justice making the call. So now we're going to have a big thing over that.
Not that we can get an unbiased assessment either way. Another approach would be to forward the evidence to the House and have the House make the decision. Same kind of problem.
I guess as we learn more I might change my mind but right now I think it would have been better if Mueller would've made a call on that one way or the other.
One thing is clear: There's going to be a lot of pressure to release the entire report at least to certain Congressional committees. And if the Republicans really think there is nothing to worry about they need to cooperate with that process. Then if the Democrats know what's good for them they need to be very careful about how they handle it and not over reach.

I hate the filthy cocksucker but I don't want him impeached - I'd rather give him another term to drag the Republican party down lower than whaleshit. (thats what got you Russiagatebots in trouble in the first place)
I said the report should be released, after it has been redacted for those things I mentioned -
So those things that the public never sees in ANY FBI investigative report or special prosecutor report should also not been seen in this one.
BTW- what Trump thinks is immaterial. If the info in the report only applied to him, then that would be one thing. But there are invariably other actors who were brought up in grand jury testimony who have rights under the Privacy Act -
Trump can always order the complete release of the report, but I thought that back in the early days of his presidency you banshees were all about how Trump was releasing methods and sources to Russians. Now you want him to do it?

I think Trump probably did obstruct justice, but it's likely more out of lack of impulse control and paranoia than it was to protect himself. And is anyone really going to try and say he's more clever than Mueller and the special counsel and used the assumption he can't be indicted to beat the collusion charges? No chance.

One thing to consider on the Mueller report’s findings according to Barr -SDHornet wrote:Link to the Barr letter to appropriate Congressional heads:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/201 ... e=Homepage
tldr; version: basically what Cid has slapped Trip around with on the last 2 pages.
Mueller is unequivocal on the conspiracy/collusion allegations. There was no evidence to support that. There really is no more meat on that bone.
But on obstruction- I think the report signals that although there may not be enough to suggest criminal charges, there may be conduct that entitles Congress to consider other political options, such as impeachment.
On conspiracy/collusion - those allegations had a significant CI component. That report is most likely going to be heavily redacted for methods and sources, intelligence, etc. Pelosi has said she would reject a Gang of 8 classified briefing (yeah thats not political at all).
But on obstruction, that is a very straightforward, traditional investigation. It will likely be minimal in terms of methods and sources, or natsec flavored classified info. My suspicion is that Congress will have better standing in asking for that part to be released in its entirety. Trump will almost certainly try to shield parts of it under exec privilege (policy process). I’m not sure how successful he will be on that, but the courts tend to favor the executive on those issues. But most if not all of it will and probably should be released unless there is some component I haven’t thought of.
If the House is just making a show (that’s almost a rhetorical question these days), they’ll stick with the “transparency” issue on the report as it pertains to collusion. If they are serious about their oversight responsibilities, they’ll go after the more obtainable obstruction side.
One thing is for sure though - a LOT of presidential wannabes are going to play on the ignorance of the base by stamping their feet and demanding “transparency”. Warren and Harris especially know better - but they’ll beat that drum anyway
