Trump is an idiot and didn't have the brains or guts to collude with the Russians. He's not Richard Nixon, who was close to not getting caught. Dems have been so determined to sink Trump, they would spend the national treasury to get him out of office, no matter how much egg on the face they get. Been saying let it go and work on a solution or option since the whining began.

Well, I think the way the Attorney general handled the collusion question was deft. I will say that there is a typical leap on the part of many people in that they say the investigation showed "no collusion." It did not. It did not find sufficient evidence to recommend criminal charges for collusion. Failing to find sufficient evidence to support criminal prosecution of guilt according to the "beyond reasonable doubt" standard is not affirmative evidence of innocence. That kind of misinterpretation is, however, common.

The bad thing is that, for whatever reason, Mueller decided not to reach a conclusion on obstruction of justice and instead just laid out the evidence he found pro and con. I don't know if he intended for the Attorney General to make a decision or not. But either way the Attorney General made the decision and then we had an Attorney General who had written an op ed saying the President can't commit obstruction of Justice making the call. So now we're going to have a big thing over that.

Not that we can get an unbiased assessment either way. Another approach would be to forward the evidence to the House and have the House make the decision. Same kind of problem.

I guess as we learn more I might change my mind but right now I think it would have been better if Mueller would've made a call on that one way or the other.

One thing is clear: There's going to be a lot of pressure to release the entire report at least to certain Congressional committees. And if the Republicans really think there is nothing to worry about they need to cooperate with that process. Then if the Democrats know what's good for them they need to be very careful about how they handle it and not over reach.

I think since they couldn't sit down with Trump and talk to him about his mindset and intent behind public comments, Mueller couldn't make a definitive conclusion on the obstruction. Just a thought.

You really have no respect and/or understanding of how the DoJ operates. Trip, why would you compromise our abilities to just to read the report? Releasing it in full,without redaction, could compromise our HUMINT assets and very important missions.

Do we really need to know all the methods and such? I don't think so we. We need to understand the outcome of those methods.

One man's 4 page letter with little context on a 2 year investigation doesn't mean a nothing burger. 5 convicted directly involved with the President and many others charged is not a nothing burger.

Regarding obstruction of justice, whatever the hell this means is not a nothing burger:
"while this report concludes that the President did not commit a crime, it also does not exonerate him."

Mueller's investigation leading to other prosecuting offices opening their own investigations is not a nothing burger.

I'll accept that no one willingly colluded if that's the case, but this whole thing is not a nothing burger

You know what would help though, and instill public confidence in our institutions?

Releasing the full report.

Right, a lot of government time, resources and money that could of went to something more important.
