We in the media allowed unproven charges and false accusations to dominate the news landscape for more than two years, in a way that was wildly unbalanced and disproportionate to the evidence.

We did a poor job of tracking down leaks of false information. We failed to reasonably weigh the motives of anonymous sources and those claiming to have secret, special evidence of Trump’s “treason.”

As such, we reported a tremendous amount of false information, always to Trump’s detriment.

And when we corrected our mistakes, we often doubled down more than we apologized. We may have been technically wrong on that tiny point, we would acknowledge. But, in the same breath, we would insist that Trump was so obviously guilty of being Russian President Vladimir Putin’s puppet that the technical details hardly mattered.

So, a round of apologies seem in order.

It’s just that you “progressives” want to head full-bore toward a full-blown majoritarian “democracy” that has no concern for any minorities except its own favorites du jour: the Muslims, the LGBTQs, the illegals, golf course owners, etc. No more Electoral College. Court-packing. Speech codes. You get the picture.

I'm as fearful of the tyranny of the majority as the next guy, Homeslice. That's why I didn't jump all in on this for the most part instead just asking questions. Remember...I'm the thoughtful and reasoned post partisan moderate.

That doesn't change the fact that "democracy" has become as much a right wing pejorative for many as the word liberal.

You mean Taibbi's own experience with them or Rolling Stone's?

Regardless...both Taibbi and Greenwald who've I've linked to a bunch were pretty much spot on with this story as they should be given their experience in dealing with Russians.

1) conks are equally as careless in their use of the term democracy if not more. I get reminded daily of this on social media. In simple terms, we are a constitutionally limited democratic republic and FTR, kalm is not whatsoever in favor of the humble masses passing their own legislation via direct vote. They’re simply too stupid and selfish.

2). Golf course owners should be exempt from most laws.
