Nice try. But, his crimes were also during the campaign... and after... and, right up through 2018. Hasn't been charged with anything he committed in 2019 yet, though.

Trump has been running a criminal enterprise for decades and is considered sleazy even for the world of NYC real estate. He's guilty a fuck of many things and Mueller has a 100% conviction rate. Nobody cares what they get him for as long as they get him.

Re: 2020 Democratic Nomination Process Mega-thread
Ok another poll came out today that has any Democrat the pollsters asked about beating Trump head to head among respondents; though it does show that Shultz could screw things up for the Democrats in a three way.
Its an Emerson College poll. See http://emersonpolling.com/2019/02/16/ma ... extension/.
Saddest result of this poll, BTW, is that more Republicans picked Trump as their favorite President of the past 40 years than picked Reagan. 44% to 29%. That's sad. Really sad.
A critical mass of Republicans have truly lost their minds.
Its an Emerson College poll. See http://emersonpolling.com/2019/02/16/ma ... extension/.
The bottom line is that nothing has significantly changed in that regard as Trump lost ground in approval ratings then gained some ground back. He is a weak candidate. In head-to-head matchups on the 2020 ballot against President Trump, all Democrats have a lead over the President, though all differences are within the margin of error, with one exception. When asked if voters would cast their ballots for Biden or Trump, 55% said they would vote for Biden, and 45% for Trump.
List of other hypothetical 2020 Ballot Tests:
Trump 47% v. Elizabeth Warren 53%
Trump 49% v. Bernie Sanders 51%
Trump 48% v. Kamala Harris 52%
Trump 47% v. Beto O’Rourke 53%
Trump 49% v. Amy Klobuchar 51%
Trump 49% v. Cory Booker 51%
Trump 48% v. Sherrod Brown 52%

I think there may be something to that with some of the candidates even though I think people do know what Bernie Sanders wants to do. But if the Democratic candidate is Sherrod Brown, Amy Kobuchar, or Joe Biden they will not be like that.css75 wrote:JohnStOnge wrote:Ok another poll came out today that has any Democrat the pollsters asked about beating Trump head to head among respondents; though it does show that Shultz could screw things up for the Democrats in a three way.

The big point is that the Republicans have a very weak candidate by incumbent standards who is where he is because of a very unique set of circumstances that shot Hillary Clinton down. Had he been running against Sanders he'd have been creamed. Had he been running against Obama he'd have been creamed. And if he'd have been running against a Hillary Clinton who hadn't been foolish enough to do that private e mail server thing he'd have been creamed.

Except it’s not a national election, John. It’s 50 STATE elections. so it doesn’t matter that 90% of Californians would vote for him, or 75% of New Yorkers. Doesn’t change the # of electoral votes they can cast. If Trump gets 48% of the popular vote again, he’ll win again.JohnStOnge wrote:Ok another poll came out today that has any Democrat the pollsters asked about beating Trump head to head among respondents; though it does show that Shultz could screw things up for the Democrats in a three way.

Looking at 2016, only 14 states were really in play. Of those,AZGrizFan wrote:Except it’s not a national election, John. Trump should be very worried about these three:
MI (Trump +0.2%) 16 electoral votes
PA (Trump +0.8%) 20 electoral votes
WI (Trump +0.8%) 10 electoral votes
Those flipping alone, assuming everything else stayed the same as 2016, would make the electoral college 273-258 Dem
These states are potential concerns for Trump, especially FL. If these fall, it's becoming a landslide:
FL (Trump +2.2%) 29 electoral votes
AZ (Trump +3.5%) 11 electoral votes
NC (Trump +3.7%) 15 electoral votes
GA (Trump +5.1%) 16 electoral votes
OH (Trump +8.1%) 18 electoral votes
These states are potential concerns for Dems, though I don't really see CO or VA coming back from the abyss at this point:
NH (Clinton +0.4%)
MN (Clinton +1.5%)
NV (Clinton +2.4%)
ME at large (Clinton +3.0%)
CO (Clinton +4.9%)
VA (Clinton +5.3%)
The math just doesn't look good at all for Trump in 2020. He really needs a big terrorist attack on US soil in mid-2020, preferably by a muslin cell that enters via Mexico, or a good old-fashioned stare-down with some commies.

Belarus would be unnecessary (from a Russian perspective). Georgia and Azerbaijan wouldn't move the needle. Ukraine and the Baltics are the wildcards.
