Pwns wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2020 10:53 am Biden isn't worse than Hillary Clinton, but I think the Democratic party has gotten more radical in all the wrong ways that would be wise for them.

By 2022 the right will be amped again and most progressive Bernie-Warren dems won't lift a finger to help stop the onslaught, and we'll keep swinging on this non-Newtoniam pendulum that keeps swinging to higher and higher levels of crazy ever couple of years.
I think it would be fascinating to see what a second term Trump would look like and how the Democrats would respond - I'm not saying I want that, but the hysterics would be incredible to witness. Trump with no re-election coming up would be even more unhinged than he is now, and Democrats would be in full-on meltdown, again, even more than they are now. Besides, I can't imagine Trump lasting the whole second term - either his own health/ego would do him in or the GOP would cut bait with him and get Pence set-up to run as an incumbent in 2024. The more likely scenario is Biden winning and then the GOP coming back very strong in the midterms as you indicate, but we're crazy enough to actually elect Trump again - definitely something we could do.
Oh the entertainment from the sky screamers from a 2nd Trump term would probably be too much for me to handle. I think I would go full Cartman in the episode when he sees something so funny that he can't laugh anymore. 8-)

Same for me with Hillary.
I gotta admit that I enjoyed a pint of ice-cold Schadenfreude Stout when she got ratfucked by exactly the same method that her crowd used in the primary.

It'd be interesting if this is just a long game, set up to announce he won't run b/c " It'll be rigged and the democrats will have billions of dead people voting".

It goes in perfectly with his admission this week that people don't like him.

I can't see him deciding not to run. It was to distract from the GDP numbers.

It would be much easier for governors to do it. And much more effective if done by them piecemeal as far as closing key precincts in battleground states and not just postponing the election statewide.

I get the same sort of shit for criticizing Biden. It doesn't bother me that Bernie isn't the nominee as much as how they did it
Hey, how about the DNC voting down the progressive platforms of M4A and weed legalization and Bernie not saying a damn thing about it?
Bernie isn't making waves in hope of having some influence on the platform - now we'll see if the Republicans running the DNC learned enough in '16 to avoid the embarrassment of again being hoist by their own petard.

I don't think he thinks in those terms, he's always saying that he goes with his gut. This might be the biggest quandry he's ever experienced - there is nothing he craves more than the adulation of a crowd and nothing he detests more than a "loser". His crowd gets smaller every day as Republicans and Independents flee down the rat lines of the sinking ship and his only chance to not be the loser in November rests with the voting machines hes doing everything possible to make the only way to vote. I'm very surprised that he was able to discern that nobody likes him actually.

The most hysterical outcome by far would be Trump getting reelected and the Senate turning Blue.

Nancy and Chuck would use him for one of those meat sticks they carve gyros off of...
Nah, the Senate wouldn't flip enough to make a real difference, other than blocking SCOTUS appointments for the entire second term. Heck, Trump would probably even enjoy getting to have the Dems flounder with both houses of Congress with the difficulty they would have getting things past his veto. I wouldn't look forward to those 4 years of potentially even more political dysfunction. It'll be a good day when Trump, Pelosi, and Schumer are no longer in government.
Why?

All of them will be followed by someone worse.

True!

My oldest is 12 and way more mature and thoughtful than I was at 12.

She is completely indoctrinated by her mother and wants to go into politics when she’s grown

WTF

What happened to being a fuckin astronaut??

It is my life mission now to steer her away from that shit. Who would aspire to being miserable and pissed all the time? I’m a HUGE advocate of free will and finding your own path. But if I could steer kids away from any two things it would be law enforcement and politics

My kids are already talking politics (12 & 14) due to either school friends or social apps like Tik Tok.

I've told them multiple times they are already scaring me because they gravitate hard towards conservatism. I'm conservative, but I always point out the other sides argument and tell them they are way too young to be picking sides without any experience.

Tell them they should be more liberal and not to follow me just because I am their dad. I've tried not to show any bias in front of them and if I do, I fairly lay out my case.

Hell, the Russian kid my son is friends with, was being called Trump Russia Fucker by the liberal kids at my son's middle school when Trump won. Lots of hyper partisan liberal kids around here.

She’s nowhere near that bad. She actually has a logical mind like her dad

And she is curious and inquisitive about libertarianism... the whole reason I know what’s been programmed into her is because she’s questioning a lot of it, and asking me

My advice to her is to enjoy her childhood, there will be plenty of time to be uptight and mad at everything once she’s out on her own.

But she thinks she can fix things in the political arena through dealing fairly with all sides and being an honest broker

boy is she in for a rude awakening

Nicole Wallace just reported the Trump campaign is pulling all campaign staff and resources out of Michigan, Wis., and Penn to focus on AZ, NC, and FL.

Doesn’t make much sense unless he figures to flip 45 electoral votes elsewhere or has an October surprise up his sleeve.

So I’m pretty sure that the Biden camp wants to avoid having their candidate revealed as a SENILE fucktard cockmonkey

I was listening to a virtual town hall meeting by Biden yesterday.

He had an instance where he mixed up a location, but there was nothing concerning about his senility. For the most part it was surface-level stuff, but there were times he went deep into questions and explained them with a depth and understanding that Trump has never shown.

You can already see it happening: Dementia Joe’s handlers are keeping him away from debates, tough interviewers like Chris Wallace, and most public appearances. He’s the new Bubble Boy of American politics. A page right out of William McKinley’s playbook: the Front Porch Campaign for the Internet Age. And he’d be doing this even without Covid.

Agreed - he's probably thankful every day for the pandemic. With all that said, it makes sense - he doesn't have the wherewithal or the capability to effectively be President anyway, there's never been a secret that he's just a caretaker of sorts, so why would his campaign be anything different? Ride the anti-Trump vitriol, win the election, and then step aside or be 25th amendment pushed aside, and let the party establishment take over from there. He's like a von Hindenburg without the military background or an explosive aircraft named after him.
