Russia loses Kilo class submarine and a landing ship in Sevastopol strike. First ever cruise missile strike on a submarine. Russian Navy taking another black eye from a country without a navy.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Zelensky threatening terrorism?
Curtailing aid to Ukraine will only prolong the war, Mr Zelensky argues. And it would create risks for the West in its own backyard. There is no way of predicting how the millions of Ukrainian refugees in European countries would react to their country being abandoned. Ukrainians have generally “behaved well” and are “very grateful” to those who sheltered them. They will not forget that generosity. But it would not be a “good story” for Europe if it were to “drive these people into a corner”

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Is NATO massing troops on those borders? Russia's ISR is probably pretty good on their borders.
Besides, what this conflict is about, is a country that has deep hatred for Russia and armed by NATO, not only shelling its own people, but refusing to abide by their agreements, followed up by the West's silence on those atrocities. Dude threw up a nonsequitur.
Deep hatred + NATO arming + silence on the killing of 10k Ukrainians by their own government = no trust.
Plus NATO got no shit left. Russia blew up all the 3 different versions of equipment they gave to Ukraine.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
3 questions on Ukraine for combat veteran Rep. Jake Auchincloss: 'MAGA is soft on Russia'
Let's remember that Ukraine is launching this counteroffensive without adequate airpower. No Western military would send infantry into two, three, lines of well-fortified entrenchments without close air support. Would never happen. And that's what we're asking Ukraine to do.
But even without airpower, they have broken through the first line of defense in the southeast. So it's doable, it's just slower and tougher than it needs to be.
...
Ukraine is a battleground. It's not just a battleground for Ukraine's territorial sovereignty. It's a battleground for the West’s resolution to stand for freedom and democracy the world over. And that message is just as important, if not more so, in Beijing as it is in the Kremlin. I say this openly to every politician in Washington: “If you are soft on Russia, you are soft on China.”
And MAGA is soft on Russia.

Budapest Memorandum at 25: Between Past and FutureSeattleGriz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 4:43 pmWhere's your link? You're the only one I've ever heard invoke the Budapest Memorandum.
The signature of the so-called Budapest Memorandum concluded arduous negotiations that resulted in Ukraine’s agreement to relinquish the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal, which the country inherited from the collapsed Soviet Union, and transfer all nuclear warheads to Russia for dismantlement. The signatories of the memorandum pledged to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability of its borders, and to refrain from the use or threat of military force. Russia breached these commitments with its annexation of Crimea in 2014 and aggression in eastern Ukraine, bringing the meaning and value of security assurance pledged in the Memorandum under renewed scrutiny.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
The Russian empire is crumbling before Putin’s eyes
Please be aware, it's from Yahoo so it can be dismissed just like articles from the fascist pillow fort.During the two decades that he has dominated Moscow’s political arena, Putin has committed himself to restoring Russia to something approaching the immense power it was in the Soviet era. From his perspective, Moscow reserves the right to exercise its influence over Russia’s so-called near abroad, the independent republics that emerged following the dissolution of the Soviet Union – an event he maintains was “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe” of the 20th century.
Yet, despite maintaining a relentless campaign to persuade them to return to Moscow’s fold, Putin’s bully boy tactics have achieved the opposite effect. His ill-judged decision to invade Ukraine has merely strengthened the resolve of former Soviet republics, especially in the Baltics and eastern Europe, to protect themselves from any future threat of Russian encroachment.
If the Ukraine conflict has greatly diminished the Kremlin’s hopes of re-establishing its influence on its western flank, its waning powers are also evident in the former Soviet republics of Central Asia and the south Caucasus, as the resumption of hostilities over Nagorno-Karabakh graphically illustrates.

Do you remember when Ukraine killed 10,000 Ukrainian civilians because they lived on the border and wanted to speak Russian? Do you remember these people then asking for recognition from Russia and THEN asking Putin to protect them?

They were not separatists. They did not ask to leave Ukraine. They simply asked for autonomy from the ban on their native language. For that, they got murdered, raped and tortured.kalm wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:48 pm1/3 of the occupied territories speak Russian.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:25 pm

Russia actually would not recognize them until it became obvious Kiev was ordering a massive attack on the Donbass and they asked for protection. This was after 8 years of Kiev ordering attacks by mercenary nationalists.
You okay with the deaths of 10,000+ civilians?
