Maybe, but there is a different dynamic right now.

Israel does not have the capability to strike Iran without overflying US forces. That is a completely different can of worms for them to deal with, compared with when they hit Syria's reactor or Iraq's back before Desert Storm.

Israel might well decide that it is worth the fallout for them to hit Iran by overflying Iraq, but I think they have shown more restraint than they otherwise would have in this instance. I think they DO perceive Iran as an imminent threat, and Bibi just the other day called for immediate, crippling sanctions. If the UN follows its usual M.O. we may well see an Israeli strike soon. That being said, I think Iran's program is too hardened and spread out for surgical strikes to make much of a dent. These are not lazy stupid Syrian Arab military types we are dealing with, here.
No doubt, Israel will take a cue from us. But, they will feel pushed into a corner and will fight back when pushed, even with out our approval. Of course, when that happens, we will have to commit Forces. But hey, we're already in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the Gulf. Sanctions are useless. Did you recall how Saddam of Gaddafi reacted to the many sanctions. Aren't there already sanctions against Iran? It's like the yellow card in Soccer. :coffee: :thumb:

Of course the sanctions Bibi is asking for won't work. Especially not in the time frame that would be needed. Plus, he knows full well that China and Russia will never allow it. The Israelis are simply punching all the required holes in the card before acting more unilaterally.

If you get two yellow cards, you're out of the game, and if you accrue enough of them, you'll get suspended for a game or two.

Close but no cigar. If awarded a Yellow twice in a game you will be out the rest of that game and the next one. If awarded a yellow in say today"s game and then another in the next game, you will also be kicked out of that game and the next.

I would have to say close but no cigar to you as well, sir. Getting only one yellow in a game won't get you kicked out of that game, no matter what. Let's say someone gets a yellow in the first and second legs of a champions league semifinal. They won't be tossed from either game, but they'll be suspended from the final, if their team makes it.

Been the rule for as long as I can remember. Oh yeah, your team will also play one man down the rest of the match.

The "context" has to do with the comments about civ. casualties that we inflict......my point is, be concerned about our own citizens who died at the hands of the terrorists..........oh wait, it wasn't the terrorists who bombed the towers---Bush had it done so he could attack Iraq------show could I forget......

Getting bin Laden would have been easier had we not distracted ourselves with Iraq. But, that's another thread topic.

I'm not sure Iran's "major shock" was all that shocking.
