While not defending Obama IF he did cheat, blueballs, I assume you despise Reagan as well? For his lack of character?

Yeah that's the bullshit thing that fucking makes me laugh. I don't have any problem with ya if you TRULY believe that shit and want to follow it to the letter then I respect that. But when it matters sporadically to you then you're full of shit. Everybody has been through this or witnessed friends go through it firsthand. A lot of times those people are friends or business partners that you hold in high regard and continue to be friends with and do business with.dbackjon wrote:While not defending Obama IF he did cheat, blueballs, I assume you despise Reagan as well? There are a lot of what is considered "Great Men" throughout history that have thrived and been great leaders in spite of not being great in a relationship. If you want to act like the personal relationships mean everything about the man then you're a fucking idiot.
Personally, I don't see Obama as a great leader for reasons that are a lot more substantial than this.

Re: National Enquirer says, "Obama Cheating Scandal"
While I appreciate blueballs' moralistic diatribe, that's not my point at all. If a person has an affair, it's acknowledged, and it's NOT while they're a politician---or even worse---President of the United States, that's one thing. If a person has an affair, denies it to the hilt, and happens to be in a trusted position of power...say, President of the Free World....then I think there's a bit of a difference. Obama is ripe for the picking. Period. It's why I despised Clinton....he cheated...then he compounded the judgement error by lying about it under oath. I'd have a lot more respect for Barry if he just came clean.
But hell, even TIGER couldn't come completely clean. Why should be expect Barry to?

When a person can't keep the most basic vows- made in front of his family, his spouse and his God- of fidelity and uphold the trust of those closest to him- his wife and children- then how the hell can anybody trust him and entrust the greatest nation in the world to him? Upon what moral compass and ethos will he make decisions that affect us all?
Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking and one of the most reliable predictors of good leadership is good character.
How many classrooms have you ever seen in elementary schools that have a portrait of the current sitting president on the wall? Do you want your child to strive to become that? A cheater? A liar? One who will figuratively put a knife in the back of his wife and children?
The predictable posts of "Well McCain did it, Gingrich did it" aren't worth a shit and are weak. They neither excuse, justify, nor explain the horrible behavior. First, they are every bit as wrong as Obama and second, neither of them are the president. When you are the "leader of the free world" you SHOULD be held to a higher standard.
To defend abhorrant behavior for the sake of political expediency is devoid of character and says the exact same thing to me about the person defending the behavior as it does about the philanderer. Now let's see if the MSM picks up this story...

I understand completely - so much so that I posted that comment - because I've seen it a thousand times...
Pontification and self aggrandizement creating a fall-back position of pseudo-morality
(I haven't had so much as a drink in over a year actually, so I'm not sure what you're implying in regards to the bar)

Alcohol increases the chance of such extra-curricular activities, not always, but a majority of the time. On the other hand I've seen many people walk away from advances from the opposite sex.Chizzang wrote:oh contraire' Gil daire'Gil Dobie wrote:

Makes you want to question "successful". Some saps know and "accept" that politicians lie and cheat...most people say they hate politicians...and yet they vote the same creeps back into office.Benne wrote:Every. Successful. Politician. Ever.blueballs wrote:

People who defend liars by saying "everyone does it" are no better than a battered wife defending her "man".
Pathetic. People must have such a low sense of self-worth to allow such behavior...and they are too blinded by their own fear that they are not good enough for something better.

The great news for every politician is that no matter what awful crime or deceit or slight of hand has been perpetrated on the mass public... there will always be 50% of the population there to defend you

Agreed. Clinton got caught in the WH and nothing came of it. Kennedy's affair with MM was no secret and he is remembered as a beloved president. Dems don't mind infidelity in their leaders one bit.Skjellyfetti wrote:Could be an affair. If it is... who fucking cares? I do think he is a lying sack of shit. He was still a pretty effective leader or is at least looked upon as that. I didn't like him for what I consider to be more substantial reasons than some side pussy.89Hen wrote:AZGrizFan wrote:It's why I despised Clinton....he cheated...then he compounded the judgement error by lying about it under oath.![]()

He did change the culture with that whole thing and young peoples idea of what sex is. I can't tell you how many dipshits I've argued with that think oral SEX and anal SEX is not sex.
Then I thought to myself why should I argue that with a chick? Fuck if she says she doesn't want to have sex then I get to poke her in the ass and the mouth and hold true to her wishes.
There are a lot of times when being correct may not be the best overall option.

But the 'side pussy' wasn't the problem... it was the video I posted that came after it.

No doubt. I was not very clearly making the point that by today's standards (the one's HE helped mold) he is not considered a lying sack of shit like most of us see him.89Hen wrote:Ursus A. Having never met me nor gotten to know me you'd never understand that I truly walk the walk and take my vows to my wife seriously. I also expect the same from my friends and family. It is called accountability and character. I think a few of the posters who have met me on this forum will vouch for me.
Granted my situation is much different than most because I married in my 40's and got all the skirt chasing out of my system prior to meeting and marrying my wife of now almost 7 years. I stuck by my wife's side during a bout with breast cancer and never then nor have I ever given a thought to cheating on her.
I was unaware of Reagan's affairs. If he was a cheater then he was a cheater. Period. He's dead though and nothing he did excuses nor justifies what Obama may have done.

Or to put it more succinctly... the goal of almost every politician is the acquition, retention, and expansion of power. Our campaign contributions and tax dollars are the capital used to accomplish that goal.Chizzang wrote:I can clear this up pretty quickly:Benne wrote:
