Assassinating Assange accomplishes NOTHING. It would be a complete waste of resources.

If you don't like the law change it. But right now they are classified documents and are illegal to give to people like this. It really is a completely different argument you are trying to make. It's like saying, well, I don't agree with that law so it really isn't illegal to break it. :ohno:

Personally, I wouldn't run from these people. They should be disposed of and we should not fear any reprisals these cyber-terrorist want to inflict. They think they are anonymous and hide behind ambiguity. They really are cowards and are getting nothing useful done other than breaking the law.

And after that maybe somebody will decide that Mormons are a security threat.........

Glad you only put in two cents worth...anything more would have been a bad investment of your time.

"How to build a nuke" is already out there...well before the internet. So are many, many, many other ways to kill people. Classifying things like that means the government thinks the average bad guy has the intelligence of a turnip.

"Gosh, if only we had some info on how to build a nuke bomb, I'm sure we'd be able to get one completed by next Tuesday. But the stuff is classified. Confound those Americans and their obstacles to us finding ways to destroy them!" :geek:

Not saying you should, what they Wikileaks are doing are inherently dangerous, and they know it. Killing Assange is only going to make him a martyr, and trust me, thats the LAST thing the US wants. IMO the biggest mistake that the US gov't made was acknowledging that the information being released is legit. To me these "classified diplomatic cables" have the credence of a teenage slambook. (Putin is a heavy drinker, so-and-so is loose with women, etc) and the insight into other countries thought processes about world events, is what many people already assumed to being with. if anything the fact that this type of information is even considered classified says a lot about the people in charge.

Now I think the government is just messing with them. Saudi Arabia considers Dave Letterman an "Agent of Influence," and reports that "Desparate Housewives," is making the average Saudi think positively of America.

So which category are you in:

1. Don't know anything about the foreign service exam and selection process.

or

2. Took the exam and failed it. Probably more than once.

Pretty clear where I'm going with that. What happens when the deciders decide you're a security threat because something you said embarrassed them?

I hate the normal news media outlets with a passion but they sure seem like they have heard the word ethics at least once. Whether they use them or not is to be debated but this ausshole doesn't know and doesn't care. He would leak how to build a nuke if he had it. Time to cull the herd a little. :twocents:

I'll agree I've seen a lot of that at State.

That's not what DUS was saying, though. He specifically stated "when you see how they are selected".

Wikileaks is a CIA opperation with two goals:

1. Make any whistleblower against the illegal wars and military industrial complex a potential domestic terrorist.
2. Clamp down on internet freedoms.

Assange works for the CIA in some capacity- and besides, as some have said a. Not an American citizen b. He's not the one who "leaked" the documents which aren't even incriminating (if you've read them, there is nothing really new that the people you guys call "conspiracy theorists" haven't learned years ago)..

If the leaks had real substance, they would talk about the 2.3 trillion dollars that dissappeared the day before 9/11. 2,300,000,000,000 dollars, $8,000 per person in the US, or 5 years combined opperating budget for the Pentagon.

Besides, you guys know who was the main funder of Wikileaks? George Soros.. if you don't know who he is, look it up.

I can believe the Tammy Faye part...there's so much makeup on that face you'd never really know who's hiding under that mask.
