I have never defended a pedophile; nor have I said that it is not necessary to have laws about minimum ages. What I've said is that we often call attractions pedophilia when they are not. A 27 year old male being attracted to a 15 year old female who has reached reproductive age, for instance, is not pedophila. It is a sexual attraction that is perfectly normal for members of a dioecious species. As far as reproductive biology is concerned, both are adults. What would NOT be normal would be for a 27 year old male NOT to feel any sexual attraction towards attractive reproductive aged females.

Culturally...and relatively recently in historic terms...we have added the additional requirement of "legal adult." But it does not mean the attraction is "sick" or that it is "pedophilia."
