The Pope is not American. I have no idea why people think he should conform to our Constitution or agree with us on everything.

So Catholics, Baptists etc are not forced to marry hetero couples that don't follow their teaching, but you are worried that they will be forced to marry gay couples?

Why was Law, or any others who covered up abuses, still a Cardinal, even after admitting to it? I see the Pope really cared for all the victims that were abused...Pope Francis is expected to give the final blessing at the funeral Thursday of Cardinal Bernard Law, the former Boston archbishop who resigned in disgrace during the Catholic Church's sex-abuse scandal, prompting outrage from abuse survivors.
Francis' prominent role in the ceremony has fueled the controversy over the decision to grant Law a full cardinal's funeral at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Law, who died early Wednesday in Rome following a long illness, became a symbol of the sex-abuse scandal after a Boston Globe investigation revealed that he and other bishops had covered up child abuse by priests in the Boston Archdiocese.

I don't think the Church would ever consider, at this point in its history, "chopping up" a corpse as some type of retribution against the deceased for crimes and sins they may have taken part in during their lifetime. There is a pretty strong thread of forgiveness that runs through the Church and what it teaches. Besides, Law has God to contend with now for the rights and wrongs he did in his life.∞∞∞ wrote:http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/21/europe/va ... index.html

I totally understand forgiveness, and as awful as the cover-up was, forgiveness is merited if he genuinely understands the implications of his actions (or lack thereof).GannonFan wrote:I don't think the Church would ever consider, at this point in its history, "chopping up" a corpse as some type of retribution against the deceased for crimes and sins they may have taken part in during their lifetime. But to keep him as a Cardinal and give him a Vatican funeral with the Pope's blessing?

There's many things you can question the Church's hierarchy about - they don't always represent the Church very well, no doubt about that.∞∞∞ wrote:I totally understand forgiveness, and as awful as the cover-up was, forgiveness is merited if he genuinely understands the implications of his actions (or lack thereof).GannonFan wrote:I don't think the Church would ever consider, at this point in its history, "chopping up" a corpse as some type of retribution against the deceased for crimes and sins they may have taken part in during their lifetime. Like GF said, he's dead. We can still pray for those who have sinned so greatly. You're not Catholic, so what's the big deal?∞∞∞ wrote:I totally understand forgiveness, and as awful as the cover-up was, forgiveness is merited if he genuinely understands the implications of his actions (or lack thereof).GannonFan wrote:I don't think the Church would ever consider, at this point in its history, "chopping up" a corpse as some type of retribution against the deceased for crimes and sins they may have taken part in during their lifetime. Re: Where's the fuck the Pope thread?
Three possible outcomes:
1) There is no afterlife and he's just dead
or
2) He's actively being skull f*cked by Satan right now
or
3) we have no understanding of what actually happens no matter how much we pretend
It's not that complicated people

Heck god was down right meddling and intrusive there for a while
