So...closed borders couldn't have prevented this? :coffee:
Who knew that Jon thinks walls work?

WELL REGULATED. You gun humpers always leave that out.

An AR-15 should not be able to be purchased ANYWHERE.
The AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle with a cyclic rate of fire ~ 15 rpm. Automatic rifles, like an M16, have a cyclic rate of fire ~ 600-1000 rpm.

The AR-15 is designed to look tactical and therefore people think it's an assault rifle.

Neil deGrasse Tyson nailed it with his tweet but people are simply too irrational to get his point. On average there are 29 drunk driving deaths a day in the US. So that's El Paso and Dayton every day, every week, every month, every year. People only care about the mass shootings more because it's political and on the news all day.

A kid gets run over by a drunk driver in Iowa and nobody outside of Iowa hears about it. A kid falls into a well in Iowa and the entire country is riveted until he is rescued. Go figure.
Yeah that was awesome hes so much smarter than the left. Well even some dogs are.

correct me? Even then..the civilian AR still is not an "assault rifle" by definition.

It is according to the 94 AWB because of characteristics like a bayonet lug, compensator, vertical trigger grip, etc. It's been so long now since that abomination of a bill finally sunset that I forget all of the stupidity of it. Go back and read it though. It's all there.

Suffice to say, nothing in the AWB would prevent mass shootings. I could kill just as many people (more actually, because I'm really good) with a post-ban weapon than the clowns in El Paso and Dayton did with pre-ban weapons. The guy in El Paso, especially, was remarkably inefficient.

Doctors kill more people each year than guns or cars...yet we hold them up pretty high...
65,000 to 200,000 The minimum annual number of deaths due to medical accidents, according to hospital records. For comparison: The annual total of all other causes of accidental death is 98,000, of which 46,000 are from auto crashes and 11,000 are from workplace accidents.

25,000 to 120,000 The minimum number of the above deaths due to negligence. That is, deaths caused by medical malpractice each year.

Hogie, you do lose me a little on that one. A medical accident can often be more like a vehicle accident where nobody is really at fault. A DUI/DWI accident is not. If the same folks that are up in arms about passing more gun laws (which won't work) would take up the cause of installing breathalyzers in cars, they would save far more lives. BTW, I'm NOT for installing breathalyzers in cars, but IMO it really would have a greater impact on saving lives.

Right, but my guess is a LARGE part of medical malpractice "victories" are borderline malpractice at best. Our society is far too litigious and folks don't like the fact that medicine is not a perfect science.

The AR is nowhere near a "standard soldier's small arms weapon", nor is it an 'assault rifle". It's a **** scary looking .223. One might go so far as to say gun control nuts are racist because its scary and black. :coffee: :coffee:
