You are such a partisan hack, I can't believe you actually believe you are anything close to center.

Accurate reading skills are inimical to loyalty to Trump, Jearf. I would think you of all people would know that.mainejeff2 wrote:I did read it. I think that you are so blinded by loyalty to Trump that you refuse to acknowledge anything that reveals his racist tendencies.CID1990 wrote:
I’d say that’s creative reading on your part... except I’m pretty sure you didn’t really read it before posting.

It must take a lot of mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're not defending a racist.kalm wrote:Wait...are we still arguing whether Trump is a racist or not?

I don’t care what half the country thinks and a tip of the hat to Ganny’s earlier post in that in many respects it’s a pointless exercise.∞∞∞ wrote:It must take a lot of mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're not defending a racist.kalm wrote:Wait...are we still arguing whether Trump is a racist or not?
When half the country thinks someone's a racist, they're probably a racist.

Am I defending Trump when I say he's an arrogant sociopath not a racist?∞∞∞ wrote:It must take a lot of mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're not defending a racist.kalm wrote:Wait...are we still arguing whether Trump is a racist or not?

I've seen arguments like that many times. It's a bunch of crap. I'll just focus on the "swing state" argument. The woman appears to think that the fact that swing states change makes a difference. It does not. The bottom line is that the Electoral College causes candidates to focus on States identified as being in play while paying very little attention to States that are not in play.css75 wrote:Here it is again John, can’t you comprehend this?

It's adorable that you think getting rid of the electoral college would put an end to uneven campaign spending. Without the electoral college it will just mean candidates will be campaigning mostly in purple cities like Atlanta, Jacksonville, Nashville, and every large city in Texas other than Austin. The term "swing city" would be used and campaign stops in medium-sized and small towns in Ohio and Pennsylvania would end.JohnStOnge wrote:I've seen arguments like that many times. Also, I notice she didn't mention that the original idea of the Electoral College is that voters of each State would vote for educated people who would then go choose a President. It wasn't about voters in a State voting for a candidate then having the Electors vote for that candidate.
It's a bunch of crap.

There really is no legitimate defense of the Electoral College system as it exists today.![]()

What did you think of the 17 month old being shot in the face in Texas by another crazy white guy? Or is she too old for you to care?![]()

We live in a republic, not a democracy. The states created the federal government and gave it its authority. States were subsequently admitted to the Union as equals to all other states. Fuck California.mainejeff2 wrote:Amen! 40 million Americans (California) have had their vote neutered by the Electoral College while we have places like North & South Dakota (less than 2 million Americans) running the show.JohnStOnge wrote:If we really wanted a system consistent with the idea that the country belongs to people of every zip code, we would not have the Electoral College system. I don't know about personal appearances but the idea is that if it were popular fighting for every vote regardless of where that vote was becomes more important. In 1800 there was a legitimate basis for worrying about focusing campaigning in highly populated areas because campaigning had to be in person. That is not the case today.Pwns wrote:
