mega corps (like steel and oil) started hiring their own politicians to write the "laws" of the Republic
an excellent work around for a Republic and one not well foreseen by the fathers

So we are indeed still a Republic Ruled by Law
however the laws are sponsored almost entirely by Mega Corps
They own all of the necessary members of our political system

and so here we are...
A Healthcare system designed entirely around profit
a Military structure designed entirely around profit
a failing education system
a crumbling infrastructure
10% own 80% of everything

Chizzy pointed out the flaws in our system more effectively than all of Trip's posts combined. Trip wants to transform our flawed system to one that historically hasn't worked. The better question is, how do we improve the system without changing who we are as a nation - a Republic Ruled by Law?

A Republic was designed specifically around the concept of honor
Each Senator in the Republic was beholden only to himself and his higher honor

Similar to the concept of a high court judge
a judge must be a man of great honor and integrity
This is the only way our legal system will work properly

in same:
Roman Senators were begged to refer only to their higher integrity and honor and not the whims of the elite
and ideally not to the whims of the Ceasar (dictator)
