Maybe you could help with the transition. What's it like to live in a blue state like Illinois? A state where taxes are constantly going up while services degrade? A state where pension liabilities are out of control? A state that people and employers are fleeing like crazy? A state where political mismanagement, incompetence, and nepotism are the norm?

First Amendment speech should never be met with one-sided violence from federal agents acting as Trump’s secret police, especially when unidentified. This is disgraceful behavior we would expect from a banana republic — not the government of the United States
Nancy Pelosi would still take issue with that scene in Portland. The hypocrisy comes in that she would have no problem if it happened with the Capitol rioters.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 4:00 pm Stormtroopers! Bet you can't guess who said this and the quote below.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/535 ... -conditionManchin vows that he won't vote to kill filibuster 'under any condition'
“I do not support doing away with the filibuster under any condition. It's not who I am," Manchin said.
Asked how long he was willing to give Republicans to cut a deal on an organizing resolution, Manchin said he had "no time guidelines," and that he thought GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) could "make it work."
"I am not for busting the filibuster," Manchin said...
......In addition to Manchin, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) has long been viewed by supporters of nixing the filibuster as opposed to taking the step.
Sinema's office made it clear on Monday that she is still not supportive of nixing the filibuster after The Washington Post incorrectly suggested that she might be open to the move.
Sinema is "against eliminating the filibuster, and she is not open to changing her mind about eliminating the filibuster," a spokesperson told the Post.

I'm happy where ever I am. I have a small house on a slip of water with beautiful views and my taxes project to be 5-10% of what they were in Illinois for property that is worth 60% of the Illinois house. The beer is excellent and I can be sledding on Mt Hood in 60 minutes or walking along an ocean beach in 90 minutes. I'm living the good life.houndbrah wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 6:09 amIts like living on 25 acres with a nice house and a barn and a swimming pool and your taxes are < $2300.00.UNI88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:57 am

Houndbrah is probably going to duck this one so ...
That can't be right about property taxes, unless you're talking about 2nd highest in "mils" or something to that effect. My property taxes in Texas on a $600,000 house exceed $15,000 annually.UNI88 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:19 amHoundbrah is probably going to duck this one so ...
- Sales Tax = 6.25% for state, total sales tax can be as high as 11% depending on the county and municipality. I think Chicago is 10.25%
- Income Tax = 4.95%
- Property Tax = 2nd highest in the country. Statewide average is double the national average.
