And Manchin makes a case to Biden for Judge Childs.

She’s more qualified than a couple sitting justices anyway

I'm not thrilled with this. It's not a HORRIBLE pick, but it DOES perpetuate the stupid idea that you can't get on SCOTUS if you don't go to an Ivy or Ivy-like law school. Childs went to a public school and is doing great things in SC; that alone would have made her a better pick than Jackson. This seems more about Biden trying to maintain independence from Clyburn than about picking the best candidate....

I preferred Childs too

But not even Clyburn can affect the progressives’ influence on Biden… they have a ring through his nose.

The up side to all this is in less than a year he’ll be a lame duck with only a veto. And in 2 years we will start 20 years of having normals in charge

Amy Coney Barrett went to Notre Dame, so we just recently picked a non-Ivy League justice. Brown Jackson is a good pick, she's a top notch judge and comes to the table with the right amount of intellectual heft. I wouldn't want to penalize her and not bring on a good judge just because she went to Harvard. There are some good people that come out of Harvard.

Agreed. I have no complaints with Kagan, but Sotomayor is a trainwreck of a judge at this point.

Are those days related to when they send out notices asking for donations? :)

 Yeah, on those days, I went to Ball State!

Actually, most of my dispute with Harvard is political. That’s a big surprise, right? I haven’t given Harvard a dime in over 15 years, but I do keep up with a few members of my class.

Now what? I think Jackson will still get the GOP votes of Murkowski and Collins, if not more.

It was something about her being far left. McConnel says it's about dark money.
