Fuck you and your homophobic shit HIU 93.

It is not the right time for the gay marriage shit. That you don't see that simple fact is evidence you are in too deep on this issue and cannot think objectively right now.

I understand your frustration. I just don't think you are being an adult right now, especially with all the other collassal shit going on.

You're no different than that dumb fuck Z, whining bout every percieved misstep and demanding immediate action on selfish issues.

CONCORD, NH—Less than two weeks after legalizing gay marriage in the state, New Hampshire legislators enacted a new law Tuesday making it mandatory for persons over the age of 60 to attend three same-sex weddings every year for the rest of their lives. "Beginning July 1, all senior citizens must publicly condone gay unions by RSVPing to the rainbow-colored invitation, putting on nice church clothes, and spending an afternoon celebrating the wedded bliss of two men or two women who like to have sex with each other," bill H.B. 437 read in part. "Any grandparent who refuses to weep joyously when the grooms kiss may be subject to harsh penalties." Gay marriage advocates are already protesting the new statute, which they say unlawfully forces homosexuals to have gross old people at their weddings.

I ain't rich but the rich are constantly beaten on and asked to foot more of the bill for this country by the parties. In the effort of self preservation and not being taken advantage of they often complain about being unfairly taxed in the same way that you are now saying is unfair Dback. Can the gays and lesbians really use the taxation issue as an argument when they don't concede that very same argument to the conservatives? Gays and lesbians are typically well off and have more discretionary income from what I've read in the past and therefore should not use this argument as a base since most are democrats and most democrats argue against this line with conservatives.

i disagree with his tone, but i think D has a point.

insisting on "now now now" 5 months in to the term seems... petulant. Yes, I agree that you deserve the benefits of civil marriage, and the sooner the better. However, just as the civil rights movement didn't achieve all of it's goals in 1961, the glbt rights movement has made remarkable progress in just 15 years since DOMA.

I get the anger... what I don't get is the cutting off of ones nose to spite ones face... which is what i'm seeing from much of the glbt community of late... they aren't being politically strategic... especially this close to their goals...

I'm all for you Jon, but get in the back of the fucking line right now. These are unusual times and sorry, you guy are going to be fucked for a while till we get our shit together. You have two choices: 1. act like an asshole or 2. be patient but keep the heat on

The thing is, we know that we will NOT get everything right away. That is not where the anger is. What we want is some TANGIBLE action that our concerns are important to Obama and the Democratic leadership, and that PROGRESS is being made. But instead, we have been continually SLAPPED in the face by the Obama Administration. Did you read the legal brief the OBAMA DOJ submitted in SUPPORT of DOMA? The very DOMA Obama pledged to repeal?

Obama and his spokespeople have been VERY condesending to GLBT people. If he had announcing a joint task force to work on DADT, and used his powers as C-I-C to suspend DADT using Stop/Loss, which is in his powers, you wouldn't see the anger. But Obama has done worse than shit.

No, we are not relying on one politician - hence the lobbying in congress, and in the states.

Flip your last statement around - how does alienating one of the most reliable constituancies the Democrats have had achieve any long-term Democratic goals?

If so, the military has to figure out a way to implement it. It's a complicated issue... Be patient, imo.
That is only one of the many things.

All Obama has to do right now is to suspend DADT under the existing stop/loss rules. He, as C-I-C has the authority to do so.

Second, to permanently repeal it, pressure Congress to do so.

The military has NOTHING to implement. It is not complicated.

Tell ya what - why don't YOU quit your job and then you can be blase about US citizens being fired for being born gay.
Man, I'm not in favor of anyone being fired for being gay. At all. I'm very pro-gay rights... and I would love it if Obama would start implementing what he said he would. I also believe he still will...

However, I do think that the policy does have to be implemented and it is complicated. I think gay and straight soldiers, sailors, or whatever, would have to be segregated like soldiers and sailors of opposite sexes are. Right? I don't think that would be easy to implement.

And, it does suck that gay soldiers are still being kicked out... like that Arabic translator kicked out recently. :( I see where you're coming from... but, I see where Obama is coming from too.

Why would there have to be segregation? That is not needed. Gay soldiers are not going to be leering at you in the showers.

So really, it is easy to implement.

you aren't going to want to hear this... but here's a hard truth (not saying i think like this, or am happy about it)

the glbt community is going to be supporting the dems whether anything happens this year or next... fact is, the Dems are the only party out there supporting them at all... and that's not going to change any time soon. the operative community is well aware of it too.

Don't be so sure of that. Many gays will either start voting Green or other third party, or not vote at all.

The Democratic Party has ASSUMED we will always vote/contribute to them, no matter what. That is changing. You need, and you need to let your politician friends know, like I have let the Democratic Party in ARIZONA know, that there is a growing movement to withhold support from any party or politician that does not support equality 100%.

now is the time for brinksmanship?

abandoning the dems for an unelectable third party isn't going to solve the problem either... it's going to elect more republicans, and the rights the glbt community currently has, and the path toward equality that exists would be reversed in short order.

Well the possibility is certainly there and if that is why the men and women are separated then shouldn't the gay men and the straight men be separated to the straight men don't feel uncomfortable in their everyday lives as well?

At what point do you suggest we stop being patient and start taking action? At what point do we stop throwing money and votes at a Party that doesn't really support us?

Maybe the loss of hundreds of thousands of votes, and tens of millions of dollars would get the party to actually "gasp" live up to their platform/promises.

We are not getting any support from the DNC/Obama administration. We have nothing to lose, everything to gain.

my point is, the guy has been in office 5 months and after waiting years to retake the WH and Congress, you're asking the party to do everything "now" regardless of political consequences... it's a narrow view that has no regard for political reality...

You must have skipped the post were I said we are not expecting everything right away. But we do expect SOME progress.

What gains have we made this year? At the federal level - NONE.
