Delaware just released four pages of restrictions that churches must follow if they want to resume in-person worship services. I made the following FB reply to a very Catholic, very Expandos/conspiracy theorist friend's post of the rules:

"They're limiting services to one hour? Yes!"

Still closed here in Montgomery county in PA (one of the suburban ones that ring Philly). 566 deaths in the county, of which, 522 were in nursing homes. That's about 93% of the deaths just in nursing homes. How this isn't a bigger story in PA is beyond me - news outlets these days aren't really digging deep for stories. Will still have non-essential businesses shut down for another 2-3 weeks here when again, 93% of the deaths have happened in nursing homes.

..In Montgomery County, 83 percent of the 556 deaths occurred in 86 nursing homes. In Chester County, those in nursing homes accounted for 85 percent of the county's 197 coronavirus deaths.

And in Bucks County, 81 percent of the county's 373 deaths happened at 53 nursing homes....

In neighboring Delaware Co (319 of 416 deaths/81%) I’ve been paying attention to the deaths in nursing homes. If PA is indicative of the US, we can put almost all the focus on the nursing homes, then fully open up, with some restrictive measures..

As I said to kalmie earlier in this disaster, the media has been absolutely terrible in covering this. The fact that they can't even read the data that is clearly out there on the PA.gov website and report it accurately is just a small nugget of how bad they've been with this. And yes, we've had a disaster in nursing homes throughout the country (again, in one county in PA, 93% of all fatalities are in nursing homes) and it's gotten minimal coverage relative to the magnitude of what's going on. Everything is so Trump focused that nothing rational can even be talked about.

And the corporate owners follow the viewers. I get it, we have seen the enemy and it is us meme. If folks didn't tune in to the sensationalist news channels we wouldn't have this problem. As kalmie said, there are more sane news outlets out there, it's just hard to find them in the cacophony of the crappy ones.
