If Ukraine was behind it, why would the perpetrators try to escape directly to Ukraine?

1) An active war zone has to be much harder to cross than another, more peaceful border. If they were Ukrainian, it would have been a lot easier to cross into a Baltic state and make your way to Ukraine from there.

2) It would point the finger of blame directly at Ukraine and they know that putin will blow up an apartment building, shopping mall, etc. in retaliation.

IT WAS UKRAINE.

ok, fine. it was ISIS. but, maybe ukraine still?

and SeattleGriz laps it up.
Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time on Monday acknowledged that last week’s terror attack in Moscow was carried out by Islamic militants, but once again attempted to pin the blame on his favorite scapegoat Ukraine.

“We know that the crime was carried out by radical Islamists,” Putin said in televised remarks after a videoconference meeting with regional officials, special services and law enforcement agencies. But he added the Kremlin was investigating “who ordered” the attack and implied Kyiv was responsible.

“The question that arises is who benefits from this? This atrocity may be just a link in a whole series of attempts by those who have been at war with our country since 2014 by the hands of the neo-Nazi Kyiv regime,” Putin claimed.

So now Ukraine is not just a "neo-Nazi" regime, but they are also Islamic terrorists? Goodness, that's a pretty broad political spectrum they have in Ukraine these days. :coffee:

A former Massachusetts city council member who fled the United States in January just days before he was due to stand trial on charges of possessing child pornography has enlisted in the Russian military, according to a video being shared widely on Russian pro-war channels.

The video describes how the man, whom it refers to simply as Will, signed a contract with Russia’s Defence Ministry and had already seen active combat in the battle for Avdiivka.

“I definitely would do it again, I’d go back if I could,” he told an interviewer while being filmed signing papers at a Russian military recruitment centre.

The video also said that “Will” had been persuaded to enlist by the Russian military’s signing bonus of 745,000 rubles (€7,450) and its bi-monthly salary of 150,000 rubles (€1,500).

Ukraine joining NATO should be a requirement of any peace deal. That is how you disincentivize russia from trying to take another bite of Ukraine in the future.

I have no problem with "finishing" Hamas. They share many similarities with Nazis.

I regret the loss of life but the Palestinian people are not without blame for what is currently happening. They have allowed Hamas to shelter among civilians, especially the most vulnerable.

No one here has an issue with “finishing” Hamas. It’s the how. Trump and Bibi are not who we want doing it.

And as a reminder, the majority of Palestinians are not adults. The 200 plus aid workers and journalists - some likely intentionally killed - didn’t vote for Hamas.

No duh. The last election in Gaza was in 2006 and I believe they had to be 18 to vote so no one under the age of 36 could have voted for Hamas. Just because they didn't vote for Hamas doesn't mean they don't directly or indirectly support them. Are Palestinians in Gaza more likely to protest against Hamas or celebrate Israeli (or American) deaths?

No duh back at ya. The oppressed and religious are going to support the obvious. Has Israel given them much of a reason to be different?

My point is that this is a crappy situation but it isn't all Israel's fault. The Palestinian people are suffering but they are not without fault for their situation and that suffering. Hamas has to go and the Palestinian people of Gaza need/needed to help make that happen.

Hamas lit the fire and part of the reason they did so was because they knew Israel would react with force and that would fan anti-Israeli feelings across the world and increase funding for Hamas.

Any peace with Hamas is temporary. It just gives them time to regroup, recruit and rearm before the next terrorist attack(s) and the cycle will start all over again. Ending Hamas is the only way to have a chance of ending that cycle. I don't blame Israel for saying enough is enough, we're going to end Hamas now regardless of the cost to Palestinian lives because we can save Israeli lives in the future if we do.

You are an exception. Most nations/peoples/cultures will prioritize the lives of their own people over the lives of other peoples.

At least Israel cares about Israeli lives. Hamas doesn't care about Israeli or Palestinian lives. Which is the greater evil?
