Because someone is trying to mimic an old, southern accent. And a bad one at that. My grandmothers were southern ladies and it sounded like “Pall-meadow”. The old Charleston dialect dropped “r” and double “oo” would sound like a “u”. The Cooper River was really the “the Cuppa.”

The Boykin Spaniel was first bred by South Carolina hunters during the 1900's to provide the ideal dog for hunting ducks and wild turkeys in the Wateree River Swamp. They’re shitty retrievers

I’ve duck hunted with guys who used Boykins and they don’t hold a candle to labradors. They don’t swim as well, their coats get saturated, and they are too hard on the birds
