Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Yep. Tomorrow will be <1100> days of the war which began on 2/24/22 and Russia has probably lost ballpark 140-200k troops killed. Thats ballpark 130-180 troops a day.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 4:55 pmJesus. Again with the bullshit line of Russia losing thousands per day. This has primarily been an artillery war. I think either Newseek or Time even ran a story talking about the advantage ratio being 8 or 9 to 1. Meaning, Russia is on the 1 side. They have been inflicting the damage. They have never been losing thousands per day.
They send the fucking drones in, get coordinates and then send a barrage of artillery. Send the drones in again to look for the last of the targets and send the artillery, followed up with troops finalizing a seriously depleted enemy.
Even if you include all wounded/captured/killed even Ukraine is only estimating Russia’s total losses at 850k, which would be an avg of less than 800 a day.

As far as risking WWIII. Ukraine ceases to exist if they don't keep fighting, they have nothing to lose, WWIII or not.
Peace without security assurances is temporary.
Did trump really expect Zelensky to come in and grovel for a mineral rights deal with no assurances of security? Why would he agree to that.Leave aside, if only for a moment, the utter boorishness with which President Donald Trump and Vice President J. D. Vance treated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House today. Also leave aside the spectacle of American leaders publicly pummeling a friend as if he were an enemy. All of the ghastliness inflicted on Zelensky today should not obscure the geopolitical reality of what just happened: The president of the United States ambushed a loyal ally, presumably so that he can soon make a deal with the dictator of Russia to sell out a European nation fighting for its very existence.

That means that putin, not Zelensky, is a weak man.
trump isn't trying to make peace. He's attempting to force Zelensky to capitulate to putin and russia while getting his much out of Ukraine as he can. He wants to sell Zelensky and Ukraine out and now he's throwing a tantrum because Zelensky won't agree to it. Capitulation isn't peace.
If trump pulls US support and Ukraine falls to russia then the genocide of the Ukrainian people will be on hands of trump/musk/vance and all who support them. Paraphrasing SD - "trump voters will own the Ukrainian debacle. Own that shit losers."

Of course AS HE SHOULD. Newsflash: Ukraine CAN‘T win ie they can‘t expel Russia from Ukrainian lands currently occupied by Russla. It’s either settle NOW with some Ukrainian land lost, or settle in the future with the same or more Ukranian land lost with more lives on both sides lost.UNI88 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 6:23 pmThat means that putin, not Zelensky, is a weak man.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
You do know the minerals deal wasn't ever going to the US coffers, right? It was supposed to be a fund jointly managed by Ukraine and the US for the rebuilding of Ukraine.
Trump certainly tried to paint it as (a) repayment for US and (b) his idea. And, MAGA idiots ate it up. Like your "Art of the Deal" post a page or two back.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Nails it. Pasted the rest for those without X.
essentially rejects how VP described the mandate of POTUS to conduct foreign affairs, and he insinuates that Trump term one did nothing to stop Putin.
2) He then basically tells Vance that his ideas are faulty and that the administration's diplomacy won't work.
These two comments are *deliberately antagonistic.* Everything was all well and good, but Zelensky took two major shots in a public forum, and they had to respond. And respond they did.
Recall, this is the guy who interfered in our electoral politics and called VP "too radical," and bashed Trump in an interview with New York Mag weeks before the election.
Zelensky is ENTIRELY at fault here. 100%.

I remember when I joined this board - when things weren't as politically polarizing - we all cared about democracy. We might have disagreed on taxes or global warming, but one thing that united us was an understanding that Putin/Russia were threats to freedom around the world.
You can tell Russian propaganda has perversely infiltrated the American right to the point they're brainlessly following Russian marching orders. No one would have blinked defending Ukraine's freedom and democracy from our largest adversary, and now they cheer an American president and VP ganging up on a (once ally's) wartime leader. And talks of leaving NATO would have been unimaginable even a decade ago.
I really hope conservatives snap back to reality that none of this is normal. That despite our political differences, we as Americans used to enjoy a good life at home and respect abroad. And we've thrown away our values, influence, and prosperity for nothing.

Blame game doesn't go far and causes more division. The powers that be need to give us better choices than Biden and Trump. It's the United States not Donks vs Conks. This is what they give us and people blindly fall into conks vs donks and the beat goes on.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:42 am I remember when I joined this board - when things weren't as politically polarizing - we all cared about democracy.
