It's funny but our opinions are irrelevant. What matters is what does 89 think of it? Is it dumb like your memes? Is it inaccurate? I'm sure he has some "rational" reason to say that it isn't funny. It's probably too low brow for someone with his refined tastes.
Even if the govt. confiscated all the assets of all the U.S. billionaires, it would allow the govt. to operate for about six months. Then what?kalm wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:27 pmWhoa, whoa, whoa...mister!CitadelGrad wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:15 am

We all know that even if you taxed the rich at 100% it wouldn’t erase the debt!
One of those more complicated ones with a lot of depth that can't be talked about in a simple meme. Sure, gas prices going up doesn't sound great. But for folks in the energy industry (and those folks are losing jobs too) it's a good thing. And gas prices being low is also a result of people being out of work, so hopefully rising prices will go along with people starting to work again. Details.
Well played sir!

Nonsense, he's with the meme crowd - he's not thinking about the details I just listed. Way too much work when he's got more things to tweet about.mainejeff wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:35 amQuite a tightrope for the orange blob to walk before November 3.GannonFan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:32 am

I mean.....out of work employees of the oil production industry vs. voters paying more for gas. I'm guessing that the oil workers are a more important voting block for him because that also includes the oil company owners that line the orange blobs pockets.
The thing is, the Saudi's tried this before (undercutting American production) but they couldn't do it. Not seeing anything that has changed that dynamic. US production is pretty flexible (for better or for worse) so we can turn it off when the prices are low and it doesn't make sense to operate, and then when it goes back up again we just open the spigot and go from there. It pisses the OPEC nations off but there's nothing they can really do about it.dbackjon wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:36 am ^^^Double-edged sword there.
Demand is way down (not as many driving), meanwhile Russia and Saudi are working to undercut American production, which is dependent on higher-cost production methods.
Those production methods are both good and bad - created a lot of good-paying jobs, yet causes a lot of environmental damage. The other issue with those production methods it is very hard to restart, so companies are still producing, rather than shut-down and then be unable to fully restart in the future.
Might be a great time to fill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (Could absorb ALL US Production for next 15 days, which wouldn't be needed - but a gradual filling (say, 1/10 of the daily production) could fill it in 5 months.
Trump has plenty of easy targets in this oil blame game.....so I don't think that he cares one way of the other what happens to oil prices short term. As long as he has a scapegoat......Trump is GOLDEN.GannonFan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:40 amThe thing is, the Saudi's tried this before (undercutting American production) but they couldn't do it. I agree with that - he's a quintessential politician in that way - I don't think he does have a particular stance other than whatever makes him look better in the end. He's just more open about it than other politicians have been.mainejeff wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:43 amTrump has plenty of easy targets in this oil blame game.....so I don't think that he cares one way of the other what happens to oil prices short term. Kind of like how Trump is your scapegoat? There is hope for you. You are like the Grinch except that instead of having a shrivelled up heart you have a shrivelled up sense of humor. But this is proof that you do have one. Maybe we can get it to develop into a normal functioning sense of humor.

Lighten up Francis. It's a meme that even 89 found funny.
