France could "at any moment" lose control over the spread of the coronavirus, the government's COVID-19 scientific council warned Tuesday as official data showed the first rise in intensive care patients since April.
What's your point? France and the other Western countries that have slowed the spread are in danger of surges after relaxing their restrictions.

But, again. France's current numbers are much better than ours. Do you disagree with that? Or do you want to throw up another strawman?

With schools opening up, I can't wait to see how people justify the death of children, teens, and young adults.

Your lack of compassion is seemingly endless. What do you say to the children, teens, and young adults who struggle without school and want to go back, especially with all the proscribed safeguards in place? For what political goal do you want them to not get the best education possible?

I'd be more worried about teachers with high blood pressure and diabetes than kids.

Oh lord, dramatic much.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and you will return to school one day. This virus is very bad and for now, it's not safe for your teachers and some of your classmates. We also don't want to have people infected in school spread it all around the community."

And seriously, what don't you guys understand? Some kids WILL die. Even more teachers and staff WILL die. People who continue not wearing masks, people who join large indoor gathering, companies who don't take safety seriously, governors who haven't done anything...they are the ones dragging this out when it could have been contained months ago. The blood and depressed economy is on their hands.

The anti-intellectualism, callousness, and dollar-worship is incredibly sad.

A handful, maybe a few dozen, out of 50-60 million school age kids will die of the China Virus.
-Thousands of children die in auto accidents every year.
-Thousands of children die from other accidents & injuries every year.
-Hundreds of children drown every year.
-Dozens to hundreds of kids die of the flu every year.

But you don't stop kids from going to the pool or beach, or riding in cars, or put them in a f'ing bubble to protect them. You can't live your life in a f'ing bubble online.

Nice qualifier so that the protests/riots were excluded. Take that out and you could argue that a lot of D governors "haven't done anything" either.

I don't disagree that we should be taking a hard look at whether in-person learning is appropriate at this stage but making a blanket statement that it's wrong is overly simple and partisanly myopic. In-person learning and interaction is important for kids' intellectual and emotional development. Losing that and other factors should be a part of the discussion.

Lol. YOU make a dramatic post about children dying, then accuse GF of being “dramatic”.

Here’s a newsflash: this virus DOES NOT KILL CHILDREN. They literally have a better chance of being struck by lightning than dying or even having any complications from COVID. It’s not going to miraculously start attacking children. FFS, look up a statistic or two and stop being so dramatic.

Yes, I'm being dramatic because people WILL die, whether kids or teachers or others through community spread.

GF is being dramatic because "oh noes, kidz might not be edumacated in-person for a few months."

I hope you see the difference between that and...death.

If you haven't you should talk to parents about how they are going to keep their jobs if they can't work from home, manage and pay for daycare, and do online learning if schools don't open. The fear and stress is real.

If schools do online/virtual education every school needs to require that all teachers report to their normal place of work. Generally speaking all teachers have their own classroom so social distancing is pretty easy. Those that don't can spread out in a gymnasium or hallways. Make them do their virtual teaching from the school. No working from home.

I agree, it's awful for them. I'm worried about my job, my health, my friends and family. It's stressful for many.

Look at the million pages before this one, in March and April where some of us were trying to say: we need a NATIONAL plan. Lock down for a month, maybe two and get it under control before it becomes bad. PAUSE (not cancel) mortgages, loans, and interest...for all parties (individuals, landlords, business, banks, etc), give people a temporary monthly stipend and universal healthcare.

Every country did contained it. Their economies are recovering. Their kids are going to school. Their people aren't dying.

But over, MUH FREEDOM.

Why does it matter where they work if it's virtual?

I'd still rather not expose them to any risk if it's not necessary.
