You're right: prior conclusions ARE still valid. Liberals already are just SURE they know everything, so why listen to SME's on the radio.
Don't you always bleat about how you never listen to talk radio? Does that mean you're SURE you know everything?
Conservatives don't bleat. All the sheep exist in the liberal party.

And I listen almost exclusively to talk radio-----sports talk radio.

I didn't read this thread, so I don't know if this has been brought up or not, but I think one of the reasons that Air America failed as a station is because most left wingers (progressives/liberals) are relying less and less on standard media, TV, Newspapers, Radio (even Satellite) to get their news and moving more towards the internet.

It's true for conservatives as well, but not at the same rate as liberals.
Sincerely,

The real reason is this: conservative talk RADIO is about all conservatives have left. That and Fox News. Every other MSM leans so far left it's pathetic.

I agree most Mass Media is leaning left currently, but that's cause that's where a good portion of the US population is politically right now. Meh, they've got ratings to protect and people want to watch what they agree with. MSNBC and Fox News both lean quite a bit more to their respective sides. Understatement!

This discussion reminds of a Maher quote that made me laugh... Republicans: "a small group of religious lunatics, flat-earth-ers and Civil War re-enactors who mostly communicate by AM radio."

Don't mistake Obama's landslide for where America leans politically. Many, MANY polls consistently show the majority of Americans consider themselves slightly right of center.   Now, where they may be in error is in defining exactly what constitutes being "right of center".

Where have you been? Self-identified conservatives are slightly more than 40% of the population, moderates slightly less than 40%, and liberals about 20%. :coffee:

I'm a bit of a talk radio connoisseur. I started with CNN radio news and the old Pat Buchanon show with Barry Lynn which was very good and leaves me to this day still appreciating Patricks's views. Amidst some great local programming and ESPN radio I also spent a great deal of time listening to Hannity and other conk shows for a number of years so I'm well aware of that genre.

Then Air America came to the conk Spokane market.

Although there were a few entertaining shows like Morning Sedition, Thom Hartmann, and Al Franken - which was good on the strength of his guests and as long as Al was not attempting to do comedic bits. But for the most part it fit the shrill, whiney, "the sky is falling" description most conks have for the left.

Most if not all talk radio is infotainment. The only time the left does political infotainment well is when it's mixed with satire like Stewart, Colbert, Maher. The one exception might be Cenk Uygur and the Young Turks who provides left leaning commentary without the weak, again shrill, state of perpetual pms'ing delivery of say a Randi Rhoads. I listened to her for about 3 minutes once and my ears are still hurting.

All I can say at this point is thank god for my ipod touch and podcasting.

BTW, picked up a new podcast recently called "My History Can Beat Up Your Politics." Check it - its worth a listen.

Most moderates are slightly leaning left nowadays. A lot of republicans that consider themselves conservatives lean left in my opinion too. But I'm one of those wackos that believes in personal liberty and free markets.

I stand by what I said in the first post.

Morning Sedition and Marc Maron were great. I though Maron was really funny, he was the main reason that I listened to Air America Radio. I stopped listening shortly after he left.

Just because you use medicare and deposit FICA checks doesn't mean you like it.

As far as medicare, every American aged 65 or older is eligible for Medicare. Those who receive Social Security benefits are automatically enrolled in Medicare. There is no way to opt out. Either you enroll in Medicare Part A, or you forfeit your Social Security benefits.

I'm sure when I turn into an old retired fart in 30 years I'll deposit my social security checks too. Doesn't mean I won't lament the fact that I could have had exponentially more $ for retirement if I had been allowed to invest what I paid (along with my employer's matching) into the legalized ponzi scheme.
Proud deplorable Ultra MAGA fascist NAZI trash clinging to my guns and religion (and whatever else I’ve been labeled by Obama/Clinton/Biden/Harris).
