Oh, please. Revisionist history at its finest. McCain's campaign didn't "select" her. She was his 4th choice (behind Lieberman (donk), Ridge (pro-choice) and Romney (Mormon)). She was chosen by the RNC, over McCain's objections, and she was selected for one reason. To lock up/invigorate/align/appease the far right vote. That worked, but in the process he lost a lot of the independent vote as it became apparent she was full of a lot of hot air and not much else. Not that I think (in hindsight) it would have mattered anyway, but I think a McCain/Lieberman or McCain/Ridge ticket does MUCH better than the McCain/Palin ticket ended up doing.kalm wrote:I'm not sure what your point is here. But Palin is still around because there's a market for dumbing down. The McCain campaign had to recognize this or they wouldn't have selected her. And if you really doubt the regard both parties have the voters just look at the campaign ads. They've figured it out - we're dumb. But I agree that Republicans are much better at political theater and hiding their disdain.

Apparently not a very big market, given the depth/breadth of Obama's victory. Looks like the dumbing down of the left was FAR more successful.kalm wrote:Like a said, there's a market for dumbing down.AZGrizFan wrote:

That is painfully obvious. I don't know how to make it clearer. Maybe you're just dumb.kalm wrote:I'm not sure what your point is here. If I am full of it, then why don't YOU give a better explanation for why Palin is still around in spite of the fact that she's not all there? To me, Palin is worth having around simply because of the foaming-at-the-mouth reaction she produces in all those "smart" people.
Any politician with half a sense of history will know that the worst thing you can do during a populist wave is belittle the populists. Currently there are even some Republicans who do not get this. There has already been some punishment at the polls unless you have already mentally blocked out the bloodbath of a couple weeks ago.

I would have voted for a McCain-Ridge ticket.AZGrizFan wrote:Oh, please. Revisionist history at its finest. McCain's campaign didn't "select" her. Gawd, I hate that woman Palin. Give me the Kay Bailey Hutchison of 1980, a little breast enhancement, and a smile!

In recent days, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has hinted in her clearest language yet that she is seriously considering a run for the presidency in 2012. Many observers have argued that Palin could never win because of her embarrassing lack of expertise, knowledge, or interest in foreign policy. Her appearance on Fox News host Glenn Beck’s radio show today, captured by Oliver Willis, suggests they may be right:
CO-HOST: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea? [...]
PALIN: But obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies. We’re bound to by treaty –
CO-HOST: South Korean.
PALIN: Eh, Yeah. And we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

Hey we can laugh all we want but GOD help us all in this country if she even wins the Republican nomination. She's scarey.
Oh and Glenn Beck is a pussy.
