Watching the town hall. Mistake #1 comes in the first five minutes:

Obama can't define what he means by being "in the business" of selling guns. JFC.

Mistake #2: He goes on a rant about how we strive to keep products safe.

This is already done. Guns ship with locks. Guns come with a safety button/lever. Guns have a manual that explains safe handling and procedures. Guns come plastered with warning tags and stickers all over them.

Let's cut to the chase. What he really wants is fingerprint ID via "safe guns" in order to create a registry.

Mistake # (I'm losing track here):

He says you can just buy a gun online without a background check. Total bullshit. All internet purchases can only be completed when a copy of a valid FFL license is provided to which the gun will be recorded and transferred. That FFL then receives the weapon and initiates the federal background check which must clear before the gun can be released to the buyer.

Obama calls on his priest buddy from Chicago who proposes a "title" be required for all guns.

Now Obama just straight up calls supporters of the Second Amendment "conspiracy theorists" for being concerned about a national registry which could lead to confiscation.

Man, that town hall was a complete and utter failure. The President was totally divisive and polarizing. He is trying to villainize gun owners, dealers, and manufacturers as the criminals in the whole gun violence debate. How about the fucking actual criminals themselves?

This guy is just a miserable failure, like the President before him. It makes me sick that this is the best leadership we can get to the White House nowadays.

Well it could stop one if some chump bought a gun from one of them craiglist gun sites. Fact is that we sit here and do nothing. ISIS farts at us and we lose our minds to stop them. Classroom full of kids executed? Oh well nothing we can do.

And no gun free zones aren't the problem. You know what doesn't look like the land of the free? A bunch of people carrying guns around. That and a good person with a gun has been pretty pointless too. So more guns don't work. Background checks don't work. So let's figure something else out so we don't have to shrug our shoulders every other week.

But in the end what he did today is pretty pointless aside from pissing off teabags. This country already has more then enough guns in homes that if you wanted a gun you probably already have two or three.

I am anti do nothing as well. So let's actually enforce the laws we have and follow our Constitution. Arrest criminals and put them away. Allow law-abiding citizens to defend themselves with firearms and concealed carry.

And I see you couldn't answer my question. The correct answer is: Obama's EO would not have stopped any of those infamous mass shootings, nor will it prevent any in the future. It's classic liberal feel-good/achieve nothing governance.

What could have prevented ALL of those tragedies was just one person, beside the shooter, at each scene with a gun.

Yep. Exactly what we needed. Another law that will accomplish nothing at all, but create more bureaucratic red tape and provide reams and reams of our personal information to our benevolent government that they can then use for whatever purpose they choose.

Obama HIMSELF admitted during his EO presser that this EO would have done NOTHING to stop Sandy Hook, Columbine, etc, etc., etc., but he just feels compelled to do SOMETHING, and this was the best he could come up with.

Hey, fuckstick, how about you attack the REAL issue here? Mental Illness. Because it isn't GUNS that's the problem, it's the government's unwillness to try and solve the real issue at play here. And why don't they? Because mental illness isnt' a "hot button" topic. It doesn't get the single issue voters off their dead asses and marching in the streets. It's not "sexy".Gun rights. Abortion. GLBT. THOSE are sexy issues that get the base factions riled up.

Look no further than DoJ for the answer to why our gun laws aren't effective.

Of course, then we'd go back to self flagellating over the disproportionate numbers of black males in prison.

Legalize cocaine, smack and marijuana, and then faithfully enforce Federal gun laws and our prison population will go down, and the dudes actually in prison will be there for guns instead of dope.
