And the average German is getting screwed on their energy bill. Germany keeps industrial rates low while the cost of energy for German households household is among the highest in Europe and about 3x what it is in the US. How many people in the US want their electric bill to triple?
How come all these people are healthier than we are and live longer and have lower infant mortality than we do if they have it so bad?

And yes, German houshold electricity bills aren't much higher than the US, because of smaller households on avg, the krouts hardly use air conditioning. I've been over there in the summer. As for Germany, you sound like Trump, but just in the different direction of exaggeration. Germany is pulling back from nuclear power, so they still burn a bunch of coal, and their use of natural gas is rising significantly, also due to a retreat from nuclear, hence why they need the controversial (and not just controversial here, it's been a controversy inside Germany for awhile now) Baltic pipeline. Germany gets about 30%-40% from renewable energy, and that could be in danger as the potential for the cutback of government subsidies for renewables is one of the things that has stymied Merkel's chances to pull together a coalition government, since her party's power is waning following the past election.
"...Germany’s plan is to shutter all of its nuclear units by 2022 and to have renewable energy provide 40 to 45 percent of its generation by 2025 and 80 percent by 2050—up from 30 percent in 2025. Replacing nuclear power with renewable energy has proven difficult, however, mainly due to the intermittency of wind and solar power. When wind and solar are not available to generate electricity, German power buyers turn to coal. In fact, Germany opened over 10 gigawatts of new coal fired power plants over the past 5 years.....
.....Despite the large increase in solar and wind power, Germany is likely to miss its 2020 target to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent below 1990 levels. In fact, its carbon dioxide emissions increased last year by 0.8 percent...
Conclusion
Coal is not going away in France and Germany as both countries need it to keep the lights on when nuclear units in France are down for inspection and as Germany’s energy transition brings in intermittent renewable energy to replace its retiring nuclear units. Coal, particularly lignite coal, is indigenous to Germany and supplies the majority of its power despite the dramatic growth in Germany’s wind and solar power industry....."

You should ask the military:AZGrizFan wrote:Just when I think you can't get any dumber, there you go. Please explain how ANY of those renewable energy sources can be used to power a military. We gonna put solar panels on tanks? Going back to sails for our warships?
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa- ... SKBN1683BL
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump and his top advisors have often scoffed at government support of green energy. His chief strategist called it “madness.”
But the largest U.S. government agency - the Department of Defense - plans to forge ahead under the new administration with a decade-long effort to convert its fuel-hungry operations to renewable power, senior military officials told Reuters.
The reasons have nothing to do with the white-hot debate over climate change. In combat zones, green energy saves lives by, for instance, reducing the need for easily attacked convoys to deliver diesel fuel to generators at U.S. bases. Mobile solar-power units allow soldiers to prowl silently through enemy territory.
At sea, gas-electric hybrid battleships save fuel and allow for fewer stops – making them less vulnerable to attacks like the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000, when al-Qaeda militants killed 17 U.S. soldiers during a refueling stop in Yemen.
The military’s zeal for renewable power has already had broad impacts on energy contractors, generating hundreds of millions in contracts for solar companies and helping to reduce fuel consumption by the world’s largest single petroleum buyer.
The armed forces nearly doubled renewable power generation between 2011 and 2015, to 10,534 billion British thermal units, or enough to power about 286,000 average U.S. homes, according to a Department of Defense report.
The number of military renewable energy projects nearly tripled to 1,390 between 2011 and 2015, department data showed, with a number of utilities and solar companies benefiting. Many of those projects are at U.S. bases, where renewable energy allows the military to maintain its own independent source of power in case of a natural disaster or an attack - or cyber attack - that disables the public grid.

Yes the military is buying more renewable energy (which is OK, other than they can't negotiate worth a shit and pay an unnecessary premium) for their bases. That's just like most other American businesses are doing today.

Twice in May our regional grid operator had to request all of the diesel generators we own to run for reliability purposes. One of the days the wind generation was 3,000 MW short of the forecast. When combined with higher than expected load this makes it difficult for the grid operator to keep the lights on. Our diesel units are expensive to run - about 35 cents/kWh - but they can start quickly so that's why we got called and we get reimbursed all of our costs plus a margin and everybody on the grid pays us for it.SDHornet wrote:Dafuq?!?! Sure. It's happened, like, twice. I think.GannonFan wrote:You can call timeouts during armed conflict, no?AZGrizFan wrote:

Sure I do. He lies constantly. His modus operandi is dealing in misinformation. I understand him completely. He's a complete fraud.CAA Flagship wrote:JohnStOnge wrote:Trump full of s h i t as usual:

You still don't understand him, do you?
Here's the Factcheck.org assessment of his statement yesterday morning:
https://www.factcheck.org/2018/07/trump ... s-at-nato/
NATO defense spending was increasing before he got into office and there was no "thing" where NATO countries agreed to ramp things up as he claimed.
And Factcheck.org did back up what it said. NOTHING the guy says can be taken seriously. The question is whether the people who SUPPORT him understand him. If they do and they still support him they should be ashamed of themselves.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
