For an hour... with no American translator, notetaker, advisor, anything...

After already having a 2 1/2 hour meeting earlier in the day that was supposed to be 30 minutes.

3 1/2 hours :suspicious:

I don't know if it's "that big of a deal"... but, it is sketchy as fuck.
So where was this meeting held? In a private room? No. In a large room filled with nearly 100 people.
What in God's name could he have accomplished in that setting? Had to be just a relationship builder, or a response from a question asked during the first meeting, or clarifications after discussing with advisors. Either way, Trump is definitely giving the stiff arm to the media. And, as long as they continue to act the way they have been, I love it.

I really am not seeing why this is a thing

We have a very sour relationship with Russia and it is no mystery that Trump would like to tone things down a bit...

Bush had issues with Putin - and the relationship didn't improve ("I saw into his heart")

Obama had issues too - and also tried to improve relations (remember the reset button? And telling Dmitry Medvedev how he'd have more latitude after 2008?)

There may be the extra stigma from the hysterics over Trump and Russia, but that shouldn't preclude trying to build a better relationship with them. TBH the faux outrage over things like this is starting to look increasingly petty.
