It seems every time he spoke he said, " Lower the rates, broaden the base." so much that 7 years later and I can still see him saying that in my head.CID1990 wrote:That’s actually pretty funnyHI54UNI wrote:

That’s all fine and good but you don’t get to call out a bullsh1tter while spouting your own
Trumps a liar and so are all these other people - that’s a perfectly rational position to have

But why are so many Republicans fascinated with ONE lie said 365 days ago
a lie not related to policy / won't cost tax payers one dollar / isn't effecting the budget or deficit
and simultaneously not at all concerned on a daily basis with the President
who lies about policy that effects everybody
Lies about Taxation that effect everybody
Lies about budget that effect everybody
Lies about Deficit that effect everybody
Lies about Military that effect many
It's a fascinating study
One lie about heritage vs. 100 lies about policy
But I'm sure I just don't understand

First of all no Republican cares about how much Trump lies
They think it's cute and helpful because it creates chaos and disorder
Which then allows them to play the equivalency game
Person X said something that wasn't exactly correct - Therefore President Trump lying every day is okay
But...we like:
Denuclearization of Korean Peninsula
Ending the Korean War
Tax cuts
Out of the ridiculous Paris Accord
Cancel the fucked up Iran nuclear deal
cancelling the Obamacare mandate
Building the wall
Bringing the troops home from Syria
Calling China and the rest of the world on their economic policies (and yes, I realize this is temporarily throwing the markets in a tizzy, and it’s all JSO will focus on besides the tweets)
Calling UN on the carpet
Making allies pay their fair share
And on and on and on......
I really don’t care about the tweets. Not one bit. And I wouldn’t have cared if Obama was green and shit on the front lawn of the White House every day if he’d done even THREE of the things on that list.
This would all "make sense" CID if Trump was truly advancing their interestsCID1990 wrote:Why are you playing dumb with rhetorical questions?Chizzang wrote:

Republicans are fixated on Warren telling white lies because she’s a Democrat.. not so much with Trump because he’s (allegedly) advancing their interests
Surely you’ve noticed the left getting in a tizzy over seemingly minor things done by Republicans? Remember Mitt Romney’s opulence and wealth being criticized by the likes of Nancy Pelosi the Pauper?
Or when Republicans didn’t like the post-racial President because he was black, while that same post racial President told us that he could empathize with Trayvon because of the color of his skin?
Seriously man I think you’re just losing your edge
The problem is that the abyss you're talking about won't really impact many politicians anyway. The vast majority of Senators and Congressmen on either side of the article aren't really threatened in re-elections anyway. And Trump himself is temporary. He's not likely to have a second term, so that means we're at about the 2 year mark of what's left of him. Even if he did win a second term he's going to be even more senile than he his now since he's pretty old already. Politics move pretty fast, and as fast as one party rises it just speeds up the time that the other party will rebound. Democrats were flattened in 2010 and now in 2018 they are already on the mend. The GOP, even if they lose out in 2020, will be on the rise again by 2024. Folks in cushy, very likely to win locales aren't going get too worried about this year or next if they are looking to still be in office anyway 8-10 years from now.Chizzang wrote:

Then I'd totally get it...
Ultimately trump is going to cost multiple dozens (if not more) Republican Politicians their jobs
and create a blow back that won't help anybody at all in this country
Isolating Trump and getting rid of him advances the Republican movement light years
Hanging on to him and sniffing his balls and defending his weekly lie's will be devastating
This isn't going to end well for anybody defending Trump politically
and Romney sees that right now...
Romney will be able to go into 2020 and say I told all of you ball lickers the truth
the rest will have to stand by their behavior and sink into the abyss

Those interests he's advancing?
There are two:
1) SCOTUS justices
2) Meal ticket for 4-6 more years instead of 2-4 more years... oppose Trump now and get drummed out in the next election as a cuckold. OR - lay low and get a couple extra years before looking for that new job selling cars
Its really that simple - and while Democrats can cluck about it now, very soon we will see them doing the very same thing

Yes. It's a completely false narrative but it is established. Doesn't matter if it's fair or not. I think if Warren were objective she'd decline to run. The 1/1024th thing is completely false. But it's not going to go away. That's the reality. It takes a lot more effort to explain why it is false than it does to spit the information out. Plus she's not really a good candidate anyway.CID1990 wrote:That’s actually pretty funnyHI54UNI wrote:

Ending the Korean War - Yeah, that took
Tax cuts - only helps the 1%, screws everyone else
Out of the ridiculous Paris Accord - why do you hate your kids and grandkids?
Cancel the fucked up Iran nuclear deal - further destablizes the regioni
cancelling the Obamacare mandate - You got yours, fuck the rest of America with healthcare, right?
Building the wall - never pretend to care about spending again. This $50 billion + boondoggle won't do shit
Bringing the troops home from Syria - leaving the Kurds up a creek.
Calling China and the rest of the world on their economic policies (and yes, I realize this is temporarily throwing the markets in a tizzy, and it’s all JSO will focus on besides the tweets) - like he has a coherent plan
Calling UN on the carpet - woooo
Making allies pay their fair share - they were already committed to doing so -
And on and on and on......
Don't forget the big reasons:
Fragile masculinity - have to support a so-called strongman
Can't have equal rights for all
Who needs clean air, water, national parks, public land.
Who needs public education
Screw the poor, the elderly, the sick.
Russia - hey, lets bow down to them. Saudis as well.
But super fun to play....Skjellyfetti wrote:Goddamn that is a stupid waste of water.

Agreed, there's a lot of folks on the left that have already written her off, and a lot of that is just due to how she went about trying to debunk stories around her heritage. She's damaged goods even among her own supporters. She'll stick around for awhile, but she's not a top level candidate any longer. She may have some ultimate say in where her support ends up going, but that's about it.CID1990 wrote:She took the test, John.JohnStOnge wrote:

She played Trump’s game instead of ignoring him.
There’s a lot of that going around
Ironically, she’s a victim of our fixation on style over substance.. and the Dems, being currently in thrall to an ideological purity movement, might be eating their smartest and most substantive candidate.GannonFan wrote:Agreed, there's a lot of folks on the left that have already written her off, and a lot of that is just due to how she went about trying to debunk stories around her heritage.
