We will have to agree to disagree when it comes to political memes. Funny, yes, but should also be accurate... otherwise they lose their punch IMO.

That's the argument that people make that is a pretty good one - Walmart, Target, Home Depot, etc, all open, and all doing great business (Amazon is doing so well they just hired 200k more workers). Meanwhile, smaller, local-based stores are shut down, employees mostly laid off, and they're not coming back on line until the summer if not longer (i.e. never). Tell me who's benefitting in all of this?
:suspicious: My local hardware store is open. My local grocery store is open.

My local garden center is closed... are flowers an essential business?
My local grocery store is open too, same with the hardware store. I don't think there's necessarily one or two big grocers out there that can corner the market on er, corner stores. My hardware store is pickup only. I'm actually enjoying curb-side delivery - I can shop from home and not waste anytime in line at the cashier waiting for people to make exact change with 40 some odd pennies. If that's a change that comes out of this I'm all in favor of it.

That's only for the few of us that care about accuracy in politics anymore. For most, politics is about winning at all costs anymore. As long as your side wins, nothing else matters. Issues, ethics, integrity, accuracy? All unimportant. Winning is where it's at. :thumb:

Your beloved and corporatist establishment!
I'm a Jill Stein voter, thank you very much. I can't help it that you and your ilk continue to feed the rigged duopoly that perpetuates the status quo that benefits the corporatist establishment that you give lip service to in your faux protest of them. Did you already mail in your vote for Joe Biden and his rigorous promises of changes to the system?

I probably should have included the qualifier completely before accurate but more importantly you cherry picked my statement and left out the "but the underlying message usually has some truth to it whether you agree with that truth or not" part. There was an underlying truth to the meme that CG said was "bullshit." You might not like or agree with that truth but it's still there.

Did AOC really do those videos, waving her arms around to funny songs and sounds? If not, then they aren't completely accurate either so they must be bullshit too.

I'm able to laugh at funny memes and videos regardless of who they're poking fun at rather than going full snowflake and nitpicking the accuracy of some.

FTR, I'm not talking about that meme with CG... I actually don't even know which one was in question. I'm referring to political memes in general and really the ones that Cleets has been posting non-stop.

I cherry picked because that was the part with which I disagree. IMO the art of a good political meme is taking what is 100% true and pointing out the absurdity of it. Adding in shit that is false, completely invalidates the meme in my book.

I too am able to laugh at funny memes and videos regardless of who they're poking fun at. My standards are just different.

Forgot to address this part. Parody and memes like the ones I'm pointing out are two different forms of humor.

Nope, I was part of the "I'm with the OTHER Her" movement in 2016. Unlike kalmie, I vote with my convictions - both parties sucked in 2016 (and are doing a bang-up job of doubling down on that in 2020 IMO).

Jill Stein does not exclude your hundreds of posts supporting the establishment and duopoly. Heck you and I have probably exchanged hundreds of posts on free trade and economics alone on the topic of defending the status quo.

It would be like me claiming I’m not to the left side of the spectrum on many issues because I voted for Gary Johnson...twice.

I was unable to hold my nose and vote for Obama the second term - so I voted Jill Stein
I was unable to even consider Clinton or Trump - in fact - I would rather die than cast a vote for either of them
and I'm anticipating a Jill Stein vote again shortly because Joe Biden is a fraud and trump is precisely who I thought he was

Agreed - I'm proud that I never voted for Hillary or Trump. I'm torn about Biden - he's a fairly bad candidate, and he's incredibly old, but he's not patently a crook like Hillary was/is. I'm still voting for Buttigieg in the PA primary (I even am doing the mail in ballot) as a protest since I don't want to vote for someone that old. I'm going to wait and see how this whole pandemic thing goes by the fall and even more importantly, who Biden picks as his running mate since the odds are low that he survives the whole term (by his own passing or by him being removed by the 25th amendment).

If my toilet breaks and is flooding my house, I can't go to Home Depot or my local hardware store (mine are open) to pick up the parts to fix it? Or is it that you think flowers are essential?

My county is putting folks on furlough (could impact the 89 household soon), state is talking about it.

Gas stations are open and I assume they're selling Red Bull and vape stuff... should they just turn the lottery machines off?
