I feel like Modine is sitting next to me watching the same movie.
While I get liking Hartman and Pyle characters more, those other two movies suck ass. Modine IS the main character, it's a MM movie.

The LP is trying desperately to find a “normal” candidate who doesn’t wear a thong or a tinfoil hat.

I commented on my State LP FB page that one woman candidate struck me as the Marianne Williamson of the LP. At that point, a more experienced party member replied that 30% of ALL Libertarians are the Marianne Williamsons of the LP, as I would find out if I ever attended an LP national convention.
Well, it’s true

Gary Johnson May have been the most “normal” candidate from the LP in years

But we’ve already tried the Joe Biden model ad nauseum for decades now

And we’ve now tried the sleazy real estate mogul too

Gary Johnson asked in his campaign ad... “What have you got to lose?”.... certainly not civil liberties - and isn’t that the biggest complaint of liberals about conservatives, or vice versa?

I find defenses of the Dem Party and the GOP to both be vapid and shallow. There is no reason for 75% of either party to support them. But just today I read a WaPo article about Trump’s tweet about the Iranian provocations in the Persian Gulf, and guess what the comments section had devolved into? People vilifying the Green Party gal for delivering the WH to Trump!

The only thing keeping the LP and the Greens down is the stranglehold the two monied parties have on the cash. Fix that, and we’d see some electoral alternatives.

The two best candidates for President in the last 20 years have been Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. And I am absolutely convinced we will never see another viable Presidential candidate with anywhere close to the same gravitas that they had. The worst complaints about them, outside of political ideology, were completely inane.

All the LP needs to do is put forward someone like and Amash or a Lee

Agreed - IMO, the biggest issue is coming up with enough specific policies and platforms that make them truly distinct from the existing two political parties. The duopoly survives as it does because the tents have been more than wide enough to cover the policies that a 3rd party would represent. When we've had 3rd parties, they've been short-lived because one of the existing parties basically sucks them up as well as their platform.

Yup. It's just too hard to find that middle that appeals to 34%+ of the nation.

I figured. I stopped wrestling after freshman year. Was getting the shit beat out of me by mid-weight guys when we'd round robin at practice. I was probably 5'4" and 100 lbs as a freshman.

Plus people, especially in America, like to win. You look at most parliamentary systems around the world and only 1 or 2 parties ever legitimately have a chance to be the most popular party, i.e. the one where they get to have the leader of government. You may have 4 or 5 parties but most are just spoilers for the big 2. I don't think our culture in America really allows for political groups to be permanently out of power and only exist as spoilers for the real political parties come election time. Like I said, we like to win here.

I didn't start wrestling until I was a sophomore. Cheney was already really good at that time. I wrestled at 135, 48, and 58. One of my iron man groups consisted of 3 guys who all placed top 4 at state at least a couple of times. Iow's i got the living shit kicked out of me at practice most days coming home with nose bleeds and scrapes on my face from brutal cross faces.

We won the state championship my senior year and I was proud to have stuck it out and lettered.

Glory days!

A 3rd party doesn't need 34%+ to be relevant at a federal level. If they can get 5-10% of a chamber of Congress and prevent either party from having a majority, they can become the kingmakers who sit in the middle and decide which legislation passes that chamber. This will force both major parties to make concessions in order to get their bills passed.

That's the argument that people make that is a pretty good one - Walmart, Target, Home Depot, etc, all open, and all doing great business (Amazon is doing so well they just hired 200k more workers). Meanwhile, smaller, local-based stores are shut down, employees mostly laid off, and they're not coming back on line until the summer if not longer (i.e. never). Tell me who's benefitting in all of this?
:suspicious: My local hardware store is open. My local grocery store is open.

My local garden center is closed... are flowers an essential business?
Home Depot is open selling lawn and garden supplies.
Lowes is open selling lawn and garden supplies.
Walmart is open selling lawn and garden supplies.
My local lawn and garden store isn't allowed to stay open...

My local lawn and garden store might sell seeds and possibly tomato plants. I can order seeds online.

BTW, the original claim from Hogie was "When a state allows Home Depot to open, but declared a flower store off limits, it’s not about your health..."

I changed to garden center because that's what I call a flower store. I wasn't referring to something like a Tractor Supply Co or something like that.
