Since when is food not an essential good? :suspicious:
My local lawn and garden store might sell seeds and possibly tomato plants. I can order seeds online.

BTW, the original claim from Hogie was "When a state allows Home Depot to open, but declared a flower store off limits, it’s not about your health..."

I changed to garden center because that's what I call a flower store. I wasn't referring to something like a Tractor Supply Co or something like that.
You're local lawn and garden store is going to sell a lot more than that. They're going to sell things you can't, or don't want to, order online. Ex you're not ordering large bags of potting soil, large tomato cages, giant planters online (I've got one the size of a small bathtub).

If food is essential, then lawn and garden stores, and sporting goods (fishing, hunting) are essential..
Allowing the big box to stay open and sell the above, and not the locals, is arbitrary, capricious, and patently unfair..
Proud deplorable Ultra MAGA fascist NAZI trash clinging to my guns and religion (and whatever else I’ve been labeled by Obama/Clinton/Biden/Harris).

A lot of people do that but I get your point. There are people, like me, that have a garden which provides a decent yield each season and allows us to can several jars of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers and more.
Spoiler: show
My in-laws are millionaires with an acre garden who either eat or can everything that comes out of it. They've got jars full of tomatoes, corn, squash, beans, etc... They freeze about 1/2 of the fish he catches in the river and could probably live for a good few months on that stockpile.

My FiL grew up dirt poor on a farm and that's exactly how he lived in the 50s-early 70s until he went into the military.

My parents and grandparents canned and froze a lot of garden produce. That along with butchering your own hogs, beef and chickens, would pretty sustain families.

My in-laws in Wilmington have turned their entire property, in DOWNTOWN Wilmington, into a farm. They have bee's, chickens, turkey's, rabbits, veggies all over the place.

They're also quite hippy so that explains a lot.

For some things they would be, but there are several crops that you can plant from the previous years garden.
