TDS will do that to you. I can't tell you how many friends I have that have completely lost their minds the last three years.

In all seriousness, I can't decide who I want to win in November. I've loved seeing liberals, who I don't know or like, heads explode. But I want some of my old friends back from the padded room. If Trump wins, my own well being doesn't change. If Biden wins, my own well being doesn't change. Most folks that think the POTUS actually impacts their life are disingenuous at best. We were led to believe that if Trump got elected they'd be rounding up gays, women, minorities, etc.... but NONE of that has happened. Before you say they are rounding up illegals... they've been doing that long before Trump. :coffee:
Nobody here is less impacted by the result than myself, but that isn't true for my kids and grandkid unfortunately
I can't think of much that that Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford... did that impacted my life.

If Biden wins (remember he wouldn’t be running the show, or around for long. The left will be running things):
-Your wallet will be lighter (higher taxes, energy costs, more govt regs).
-You’ll be effected by single payer (taking steps towards it).

Damn straight that lives of successful people will be adversely affected if “Moderate Joe” Biden wins. He’s the biggest political whore in my lifetime. Donk Senator Wyden is talking about taxing UNREALIZED capital gains. So if a stock goes up, even if you don’t sell it, you can be taxed on the increase in value. :tothehand:

Again that's been my disappointment over these past few years - the Democrats consistently saying that voting for Trump is the "end of the Republic" or the "end of democracy". That's been the consistent message from before the 2016 election to all the way through last night's conclusion of the Democratic convention. And on top of that, a lot of the media has moved into those same hystericals and are pushing the same mantra.

I don't like Trump, I didn't vote for him and I won't ever vote for him. But our country is not on the precipice of ceasing to exist either. I don't like that there was foreign interference in our past elections, but I also don't like that political games were played with that information and that the transition from one administration to the other was purposely mangled in order to hobble the incoming one. I don't like that Trump is a detestable human being and confirms as much with almost every time he speaks. And I don't like that his incompetence, and the unhinged reactions to him, have led us to a place right now where we have struggled so mightily with COVID and how to deal with it. I'm torn if Trump winning or losing in November will really change anything, though. Once you've gone crazy, it's hard to see how you come back from that. Both sides are crazy right now (with the left possibly even more so). :coffee:
read that first paragraph again, then spend some time trying to reconcile it with the left’s belief that they’re leading from “hope” while the right is leading from “fear”.
I don't know how you can lead a country you hate.

Most people who think that POTUSes have no impact on their life are naive at best. Already mentioned stock market and taxes. There's countless fed regulations that people deal with every day. I recently mentioned 3 in another thread that regulate toilet capacity, shower flow, and light bulbs. There's CAFE. The list is endless. Whatever line of work you're in there's all kinds of fed laws and regs. Who do you think puts those laws regs in place? They're either laws passed by Congress, signed by the POTUS, or regulations enacted by bureaucrat agency heads who are appointed by the POTUS. Some of those laws and regs you feel the effects of immediately, some are years down the road. Many of those laws and regs would only come into effect with certain POTUSes, or would be structured differently depending on who's POTUS.

If Biden/Harris win, they'll start trying to enact parts of the New Green Deal, and we'll all be effected.

The stock market was doing fine before Trump. It would've been in about the same place just before the COVID-19 thing hit as it was if it had simply continued at the average per session rate of the Bull Market through election day 2016. This idea that Trump was the reason for what the stock market was doing is one of the biggest myths of our time.

Do as I say not as I do.....
A new crowd is coming to town and they will also be exempt from the normal COVID-19 rules. It’s the musical stars arriving for the annual VMA awards. The glitterati will not be required to quarantine for two weeks prior to heading out to the big party, even if they are traveling to Gotham from states on the “do not travel” list, including California. (NY Post)
To get around this, the New York State Department of Health granted the VMAs a “semi-exemption.” What the heck is a “semi-exemption?” Well, they’re being made to promise that the attendees will only mingle with the members of their own production team and will remain in self-imposed quarantine when not participating in activities related to the production. So I’m sure they’ll all abide by those rules, right?

Not if Kanye West is any example to go by. He flew in on Thursday and got around the rules by using an airport in New Jersey. He later switched vehicles to a car with New York plates and headed into the city where he toured an art gallery in Chelsea. While this was widely reported, I still don’t see Kanye cooling his heels behind bars. But I’m sure he’s the outlier, right? None of the other stars would stoop to that level and sneak out to attend VMA after-parties while they’re in the Big Apple, I’m sure. But we’ll keep an eye on the situation just in case.

Mrs. HI5 and I stopped at a Kwik-e-mart on the way home from moving HI5.5 back to college. Mrs. HI5 says a woman followed her into the restroom with her own bottle of soap and a small spray bottle. The woman set the stuff on the counter in the restroom and used the facilites. Then she washed her hands with her own soap and then sprayed them with the bottle. Wife says is smelled like alcohol. Then the lady touched the door knob to get out while carrying her bottles that were sitting on the restroom counter.
