They are the singular reason these cops are still cops. God it must be a hell of a dichotomy for a liberal these days....unions? Or defunding the police....what a conundrum!
Actually, it’s not at all.

BiL is an Undersheriff who’s relayed his frustrations. The Police Guild protects shitty cops and props up an air of insubordination.

Reducing funding, increasing employment requirements, and/or defunding the militarization of local LE are ideas worth exploring.

:coffee:
Increase employment requirements to what?
Defund which parts?

NONE of that shit is going to happen as long as unions are in control. And those shitty cops will remain shitty cops. The choice is simple: Break the shitty, crooked unions, or live with the consequences. This entire bag of bullshit is on dem heads. The blood is on their hands.

Therein lies the rub!

One political party has benefitted from and stroked public employee unions since time immemorial (hint: not the GOP)

I touched on this before but I’ll be a little more clear now: you dont break police unions only... breaking them requires i introducing laws that prohibit them (we call them right to work laws down heah).

You either break them all (police, teachers, garbage collectors, fire, EMT) or you break none of them

And who is the leadership in the vast number of these jurisdictions?

I know there is a bigger a problem but teachers, garbage collectors, fire fighters, and EMTs aren't killing people and protecting bad actors just because they are in the same line of work. They also don't have the authority that police do.

I know I am being naive but I am asking this genuinely, why can't we at least start with breaking the police unions as they are the biggest problem? Does it all have to be laws prohibiting unions or can something be done specifically about police?
Well, if you can find a way to legislate that you aren’t entitled to organize solely because of your occupation ... in strong union states like Minnesota or New York ... and pass muster in court

That would be quite the legislative trick

I guess I meant there are laws that apply to police specifically. Can't there be changes to those?

Wait...now you want the police ? I thought you want us all to have a neighborhood watch patrolling the streets and exacting justice?

If that's how it's going to be, the speeders in my neighborhood are about to have a rough day. I'm impounding their vehicles and starting with the asshole that does close to 60mph.

That reminds me of a joke (which is obviously better delivered in person than in text)

A grandfather and his grandson are sitting on a dock at the end of the day. Grandpa pulls out a cigar, lights it and takes a puff.
"Grandpa, can I try your cigar," says the grandson.
"Only if your penis can touch your butt?" asks Grandpa. Grandson replies, "It doesn't."
A few minutes go by and grandpa pulls out of a beer.
"Grandpa, can I try your beer," says the grandson.
"Only if your penis can touch your butt?" asks Grandpa. Grandson replies, "It doesn't."
A few more minutes pass and grandson pulls out of a ham sandwich.
"Hey son, can I have a bite of your sandwich?" asks Grandpa
"Can your penis touch your butthole?" asks Grandson.
"Of course it can!" says Grandpa
"Well go fuck yourself!" replies Grandson

And in the race to step on your own dick more, Trump surges ahead of the cops...

Antifa!!!

Citing a One News America Network report, Trump posted on Twitter that Gugino was "pushed away after appearing to scan police communications to black out the equipment."

"I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?" Trump tweeted.

People were quick to dismiss Trump's claim that Gugino was a member of Antifa and several said that even if he was, it didn't change opinions on how the officers responded.

The odds of the Dems not only gaining control of both Houses of Congress, but also getting the 2/3's of each house needed to 25th Trump out of office are pretty slim to non-existent. That's a 53 seat pickup needed in the House and a 20 seat pickup in the Senate. Want to bet on that outcome?

I called it for Trump in July of 2016.

I’m calling it now that Trump won’t be re-elected.

There’s a chance he or Biden might not even be the candidate come November. If it’s Trump and Biden, Trump is toast. Book it!
