My point is simply that it's interesting to see people advocate the redistribution of money, but won't participate. Not saying you do.
It varies from year to year. Like I pointed out, Bernie gave more than Republican candidates leading up to the 2016 election. People give less over certain periods for other reasons - maybe a family member needs help with catastrophic health care expenses. Maybe they're saving and investing with a plan to make a larger lump sum gift in future years.

Without an actual annual breakdown of giving, casting that judgement is shakie at best.

By the same token it's also interesting to see people who've benefited largely from government spending advocate for cuts in social spending.

Can we get a ruling here? Jon? MJ?

Are you guys more oppressed than women or are women more oppressed than gay men?

It is going to be really hard keeping up in the primary seas... er I mean intersectionality olympics
I'd say that women are more oppressed than gay men. That being said I think that gay men have more tenuous footing in our culture due to extreme hatred exhibited toward them by a larger % of the population. I think that the D women running are not great....Klobuchar is probably the best of them but she is having a hard time getting traction. My pick would still be Harris but she might be almost as unlikable as Hillary.

Mayor Pete is likable & smart. I believe that he will also be a great debater. Assuming that there is no serious dirt dug up on him....he will definitely be In this until the end (of the Dem nom process). The visual of him up on stage with 80 year-old angry Bernie will be striking...maybe shocking.

I like Pete. For the same reasons that people elected Trump - he's different and not a Washington insider - I think he might have a chance. It seems that the Democratic Party is tiring of the same ole names and want someone to be the opposite of the old Cheeto in Chief.

A great debater, yes

But will he be a Master Debater?

If the last election is any indicator, many Dem voters (particularly in the Rust Belt) are also tired of the social justice extravaganza and want the party to spend more time on the economy and emphasize domestic policy

I think Buttigieg may do well in places like Michigan

Not going to lie, there's something about student loan forgiveness that doesn't sit well with me (mainly because it would open pandora's box of federal control of higher education) but I have a limited amount of sympathy with those who will lose some money from this.

Surely you could see that whole system wasn't sustainable and you have so many college grads with degrees that just don't have the earning potential to pay back the obscene sums. And that you have for-profit diploma mills who have been exploiting the hell out of the system for a while. Why buy student debt-backed bonds when you know how toxic it all is?

In the interest of disclosure, I paid off my student debt years ago so if anything I have a reason to oppose this.

Once the Dems get the 411 on Pete they are going to tear into him. He is probably at his Zenith presently.

Biden would create a turnout problem but I have a problem trying to picture the Democrat establishment accepting Bernie as the nominee no matter how big a crowd he draws. On the other hand Bernie has a strong hand to play and he will know how to play it. I'd love to see him force himself down the throats of the Party and then make them listen to long speeches about how important it is for all Democrats to now rally round the nominee because western civilization as we know it hangs in the balance.

I want Bernie to win...then see the donk establishment and super delegates rob him again. The uproar would be fucking epic.

Also seeing a "Bernie or Bust" part 2 getting started. This DNC primary is going to be epic.

Prior to 2018, residents of IL, NY, CA and similar states were paying less in federal taxes because they were able to deduct extremely high state & local taxes on their federal taxes. In other words they were being subsidized by (freeloading off of) other state's residents.
I believe this, but didn't impact me much. My fed taxes were slightly less than a year ago, but I'm not one of those idiots that bought more house than they can afford.

I like Pete so far. Bernie would bankrupt me if he won & implemented half of what he wanted to. Pocahontas I don't think has a shot. I like Biden, but I don't know if a white man can win the 2020 Democrat nomination.

For selfish reasons , whatever they can do to reduce the cost of college by 2023 I could be all in haha.

Spend 5 minutes anywhere near a group of Chinese tourists and you won’t ask that question

I don't. Its all I can think of to explain the uber-patriot Republicans and NRA types sudden love for Russian dick. As we saw with the last administration, race is very important to that crowd.

But thats just the guess of an outsider looking in from a long ways away - what is your opinion about the sudden love for Russia, complete with secret meetings in the Oval Office with no other Americans present and the groveling, servile behavior at Helsinki?
