The continuation of the 2017 tax cuts. In other words, taxes are staying the same vs a massive increase.

Fake News. The continuation of the 2017 tax cuts isn’t a tax cut.
What?

What?

The left is calling keeping the tax rates the same as they were 2017-2024 a tax cut.

And like I exited in my 1st response the left just decided to include an estimated "impact of Tariffs” to puff up their BS..
Yes I know. Were those rates after a tax cut that grew our national debt immensely?

I’ve always supported reducing the debt and gaining efficiency. Managing an under-capitalized for-profit business in a hyper - competitive local market requires the same. How you achieve these things is the special sauce.

Start with the fact that this bill according to treasury analysis will increase the debt in the neighborhood of $4 trillion by 2026. The previous Trump administration increased the debt by $7.8 trillion over the course of his presidency.

I despise Trump for many reasons not the least of which are the hits the middle class, future generations, and environment are going to take.

Any decently informed and ethical person should feel the same. Where’s your disconnect, CH?

You just described why we have Musk and why his work is so important… at least someone has said it out loud … the USA is broke

We need to get these drunken sailors aka politicians under control…. If we don’t, might have to go after big ticket untouchable discretionary spending like Social Security as well. Notice how they are going after non discretionary spending like the Dept of Education …. Makes sense and you fight Musk at every turn :ohno:

As far as getting "these drunken sailors aka politicians under control", we should start with Republicans in the US House of Representatives.

Someday there will be a comparison of clinton's reinventing government to trump's doge.

Republicans are politicians so my comments covered them.

Gingrich was the driving force in driving home that balanced budget 30 years ago, was he not? Anyway it was an accomplishment without all the nonsense we have now. Musk involved because politicians won’t tackle it. I’m old enough to remember those ticking debt clocks in the Eighties … been down this long and winding road before

trump is a politician as well.

gingrich played a critical role in the balanced budget but it was clinton who created a "government that works better and costs less".

Which programs get cuts and by what amount is a philosophical debate. And yes, I disagree with MuskTrump’s philosophy and actions on this. EG: The Seattle VA is literally cancelling surgeries scheduled for tomorrow and VA funeral services are on the chopping block as well. You’ll hear the phrase “mission critical” often in the reporting as those are people and programs being cut.

US Forest service has lost funding and experienced, key personnel for wild land fire fighting operations. In the last 4 years alone I’ve had two large fires nearby. I literally called in one that started a mile from my house and destroyed homes and property. The other was the grey fire which wiped out 1/3 of the city of nearby Medical Lake and had us under level 3 evacuation (prepare to leave immediately and leave your belongings behind) for two days.

I had a friend who lost her home in that one. Ever been under a level 3 evac wondering if you’re going to lose everything?

Trumpmusk are simply transferring wealth from key government services into their own pockets via tax cuts. They don’t care about the debt.

I’m sorry but you’re a simpleton to think otherwise.

Fox News correspondent slams Trump administration for new press access rules that ‘gives power to the White House’
“This move does not give the power back to the people - it gives power to the White House. The WHCA is democratically elected by the full-time White House press corps,” Heinrich, who is a board member of the WHCA, tweeted.

“WHCA has determined pools for decades because only representatives FROM our outlets can determine resources all those outlets have - such as staffing - in order to get the President's message out to the largest possible audience, no matter the day or hour,” she added.
...
“WHCA's job in that scenario is to ensure that the pool includes representation from each constituency (radio, tv, wires, print, stills, new media) to get the news out to the fullest possible extent,” Heinrich concluded. “Our job is to advocate for the MOST access possible.”
This is beyond troubling. The White House should not be handpicking which outlets are in the press pool.

They absolutely should and I love that they are opening up the pool for others to swim. Some people are good journalists that ask relevant questions and then report on the answers. Those people do not work for Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, NYT, WaPo, LAT etc. They are independent and don't have an agenda or push a narrative. Those are the people that should be allowed access to our government. Beside all the ones complaining won have jobs in 6 months now that our tax dollars are not going to fund their propaganda.

Even MSNBC gets it and they get nothing

No I didn't. I agree that out-of-control spending needs to end. We will all benefit in the long run and the time is up. I differ from you in that I don't trust musk and trump to do it. I don't think they give 2 shits about the future of this country beyond their lifespans. They're making up bullshit - inflating numbers, double counting, counting cancelled/completed contracts, calling frivolous spending approved by Congress waste/fraud, etc. Their goal is to further their ideological agenda and amass more power and wealth for themselves.

To paraphrase you: The White House lmao any news coming out of the White House is suspect and I'm sorry, but you are just the simpleton messenger.

This is what you missed, you assume I trust them, I don’t necessarily. They could see cutting spending as a win for them and a win for us and that’s fine.

But to claim Elon, the richest man in the world is doing this only to enrich himself is just dumb
