So reports now are the killer is the son of a sheriff and minister who turned him in. Both parents are registered Republicans. Robinson donated to Trump himself. One of the bullet casings had “if you’re reading this, you’re gay” inscripted on it.
So likely not trans, not left.

I looked it up - it's the Fighting Oligarchy Tour, the one he did with Ocasio-Cortez. More like a campaign stop tour - heck, how is/was that different than the tour this Kirk guy was just starting?kalm wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 8:37 amYou haven’t heard of the End Oligarchy Tour or the often seen clips of Bernie in hearings?GannonFan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 8:06 am
I agree, great video. Now keep getting out there, along with Republican colleagues, and display this day to day as a Senator. Congress, as a whole, has been missing over the past 10 years, Bernie included. I actually can't remember the last time I actually heard Bernie speak - it may be as long ago as the campaign in 2020. The only person we're hearing is Trump - granted, he is amazing at sucking the oxygen out of the room and making it all about him, but we have to do better. And the way we start to do better is by having the legislature do their job. Start talking to the other side, debate, work things out, and get things passed, even if it's not 100% what you wanted. Congress has been front and center in the political path of refusing to negotiate with the other side (because the other side is evil incarnate) and refusing to cede even an inch of ideology. Show the public a different way that leaders can behave.![]()
And no, unfortunately I don't see a lot of clips of hearings.

BBC said the kid was registered in 2021 as "unaffiliated" in terms of political party. Clearly he was anti-fascist based on the bullet casings (one calling his target a fascist, the other using the Italian anti-fascist resistance song).kalm wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 9:15 am So reports now are the killer is the son of a sheriff and minister who turned him in. As for the difference. One, he’s a U.S. senator while Kirk was aright wing influencer/troll. Two, the actual messages they were delivering.

The biggest difference is that as public officials, Sanders and Cortez were flying private jets to and staying in $1000 a night hotel rooms at these events. You know...while fighting oligarchy and stuff.GannonFan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 9:35 amI looked it up - it's the Fighting Oligarchy Tour, the one he did with Ocasio-Cortez. The bullets he used in the assassination had an anti-fascist statement on one and an ANTIFA slogan on another.bobbythekidd wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 11:21 amThe assassin wore a trump costume a few years ago on Halloween

Re: Miscellaneous news items that don't warrant their own thread
Charlie Kirk Shooter's Shell Casings Don't Suggest 'Trans Ideology.' Here's What They Mean.
It doesn't look like the meaning(s) behind the words are as cut and dried as some want to make them.According to Cox, a single fired casing, belonging to the bullet that hit and killed Kirk, read, “Notices bulges. OwO, what’s this?”
The phrase references a meme popularized around 2015 parodying furries, in which one furry notices the “bulge” in another furry’s pants and reacts with wide-eyed surprise, as denoted by the “OwO” emoticon, according to Know Your Meme.
It’s unclear what the shooter’s intended message is here. Likely it’s just “shitposting” ― meaning there’s no clear message at all, only deliberate absurdity.
Three other, unfired, rounds were also found at the scene, also bearing their own inscriptions, according to Cox.
One was inscribed with, “Hey fascist, catch!” along with a series of arrows:
While Gov. Cox said the phrase “speaks for itself,” there’s a bit more to it than that. Gamers quickly linked the arrows to the button sequence in a game called “Helldivers 2,” that airdrops a bomb. In the game, players role-play as fighting on behalf of a fascist state ― not against it.
Cox said another bullet read, “If you read this you are gay, lmao.”
This one also falls under the purview of shitposting, with an extra dash of online trolling. The phrase has seen wide use as an ironic (and, yes, queer-phobic) joke for many, many years.
And the fourth bullet ― bearing what would seem to be the only non-online message of the bunch ― read, “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.”
The phrase appears to reference an Italian folk song which originated with 19th-century rice paddy workers. In the WWII era, it morphed into resistance song sung by Italians opposing fascism, though an investigation by George Mason University found this is mostly apocryphal.
But again, there’s more to it: The phrase could also just be yet another gaming callback. According to The Verge, the phrase pops up in a variant of “Helldivers 2” and “Hearts of Iron IV,” a WWII strategy game, as well as “Far Cry 6.”

My boys can confirm on the gaming reference. The Italian song is also supposedly used in a game.UNI88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 12:56 pmCharlie Kirk Shooter's Shell Casings Don't Suggest 'Trans Ideology.' Here's What They Mean.

Re: Miscellaneous news items that don't warrant their own thread
Bernie has been on several podcasts that you would think would have been "beneath him." That’s why he is a likable guy. I dont agree with his views, but I would have a drink with him. Just like with Obama. That is what is missing from the Democrats, relatability. Outside of Gavin, who has been making an effort to (and you could also argue trying too hard) look more relatable. No one else on the Blue side is remotely likable. They all carry an air of themselves that they believe their shit don't stink, and hide behind the gotcha phrases of racism, sexism, and to avoid any criticisms.kalm wrote:Hmmm…something tells me you are either unaware of his past statements or you don’t understand what a troll is.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 3:03 pm Kirk was far from a troll … man your hate is really shameful

And yes, plenty of Republicans do this too, but they are also not likable, and no, I wouldn't vote for them either.

kirk was not promoting open dialogue. His Professor Watchlist is intended to intimidate and shut down opinions that he disagreed with, that is not "open dialogue". He was the right-wing version of woke, self-righteously attempting to force his opinions and moral beliefs down the throats of others whether they agreed with him or not. He was another example of the similarities between the unhinged, radical extremists on the right and left.
