I don't know how much inroads we will make in treating AIDS and Cancer, even if we had been researching during Reagans terms. Both are because the immune system allowed a foothold by the disease to happen. If people are unwilling to change their lifestyles, then they won't take out the reason the disease proliferated in the first place.

What I am trying to say is, even if we develop a cure for AIDS and cancer, chances are people still won't make the lifestyle choices needed to foster a strong functioning immune system.
