Thats a good thing to do. Many people just see the money they get up front from loans and don't think too much about paying it back. Same goes for credit cards.catamount man wrote:Go to the Center for Responsible Lending and just read some of the horror stories. Hell, from the 11 years I worked in the crooked industry, I could tell you things that would make you puke and blush. I am now on a mission to try and educate consumers as much as possible about these pitfalls. Peace.
I wasn't in title loans, but small consumer loans. "FINANCE COMPANIES" as they were called. I always wondered what it was we were financing? Sheesh..........anything I can do to help somebody avoid this, I will.slycat wrote:Thats a good thing to do. there is some truth, but unscrupulous lenders, and I know plenty, just have no conscious. Believe me, I was associated with these people for 11 years. Trying to do what I can now to help folks.JayJ79 wrote:the average consumer is a moron.
Oh, I definitely agree about the lenders.catamount man wrote:there is some truth, but unscrupulous lenders, and I know plenty, just have no conscious. Believe me, I was associated with these people for 11 years. Trying to do what I can now to help folks.JayJ79 wrote:the average consumer is a moron.
it's worse here in South Carolina. Both NC and GA have banned payday lending but still have title loans, consumer finance companies, etc, etc. I remember one company I worked for when the President sent us a Bible to be placed in the office to "show the customers that we represent what they believe". I almost puked because I knew what the Bible truly said about usury. Believe me, I hate the fact that I spent 11 years in it.hank scorpio wrote:Our state legislature tried to pass some laws fixing interest rates and such, currently there is no oversite. Two of our Reps own title companies or payday loan companies.
They got up there and laid on the sob story of how they are just out there to help the working man, and just maybe make a buck or two while providing this great service to the community.
Not to mention that Jesus whipped the money-lenders out of the temple.catamount man wrote:it's worse here in South Carolina. I'll just never understand why people even bother going to such places like the "payday loans" or "car title loans", or living off credit cards w/o paying at least a significant part of the balance each month.
It's only going to dig you into a deeper hole, how can people not see that?
(and unfortunately, I live with such a moron)
John 2:15. I remember once I had a customer on the books who I truly tried to help, although she ultimately filed for personal bankruptcy, telling me that a worker from another company left as a message on her answering machine, "You know you really don't want to stand before Jesus without having paid us our money back." or something to that effect. I was floored!!! That's just a small bit of what kind of trife goes on behind finance companies doors.RobsPics wrote:Not to mention that Jesus whipped the money-lenders out of the temple.catamount man wrote:

I forgot what passage mentions that, but it would have been funny to post that in the place you were working.

Yeah. I'm sure it's only conks who profit from businesses like these. Grow up.
Any moron who's stupid enough to take out a loan against their car at a company like this shouldn't be on the roads with a vehicle anyway.
So you have no idea, but you just ASS ume they're conks? Jesus, you have sunk to new lows...Grizalltheway wrote:I was talking about them two reps in particular. I'd bet the farm they're conks.AZGrizFan wrote:

Further proof that religion provides no guarantee of moral behavior. Funny, you don't hear about atheists ripping off the ignorant or poor.catamount man wrote:Go to the Center for Responsible Lending and just read some of the horror stories.
