......Cap'n Cat actually makes the effort to watch the opposition news programs to get a feel for where they're at on sh*t.

Watched Fox News for an hour last night. Saw Bill O'Reilly interview Laura Ingraham. Fvcking Conk lovefest, with both of them using the same lame, hateful euphemisms and epithets for people, policies, organizations, etc., that are used here by my Conkie friends. It was hard to stomach, but I stuck it out. Still, to be fair, I concluded that their anti-Left 69'ing is equaled by Keith Olbermann's disdain for everything Rightie. So there is, after all, some "balance" in the world and there is no such thing anymore as a threat from the "liberal media". They've caught up.

Caught a few minutes of that disheveled Rush lackey, Glenn Beck, too. Dude's in outer space. I hear he has good ratings, as do many of the shows on FOX, but I always greet that with the knowledge that a large segment of their audience are the Roswell-Site 51-gun fondling-Constitution Party-foil rabbit ears-racist-government-conspiracy-Michigan Militia-type mutts that occupy our country's rural areas.

After a pint of Pepto-Bismol, I turned to CBN and watched the 700 Club, the long-running ode to things in the distant past (like Reagan and religion), oozing with Christ-and-Reagan worship and misdirected contempt for all things contemporary or progressive. Pat Robertson is getting old as fvck, too. Couldn't complete sentences, couldn't keep focus. He's lucky he's got that old hag on their with him to prop his octogenerian ass up. I thought about what I would say when he finally dies. I decdided I would just roll my eyes.

After my monthly forays into the rightist media, I exit truly exalted and comfortable that they will never garner respectability with sane, thinking citizens like Me and dbackjon, D1B and houndawg, mainejeff and Appaholic and the rest of the proud CS Progressive Bloc For Coherent Issue Identification and Debate.

So, Fox = CNN+MSNBC+HLN+CBS+NBC+ABC?

I don't care who you are, that's funny.

For every Bill OReilly (who's an ASS, I might add), there's TEN Olbermans.

It's hardly "even".

Wrong. You're ASSuming every reporter and talking head with those other outlets are flaming liberals dancing on the graves of Reagan and Falwell, and that every report on everything they do is somehow anti-Right, a common Conk paranoia-related malady. Talk about blankets and generalizations!!!

Sh*t, Z, if Fox is beating the fvck outta everyone in ratings, they shoud be reaching damned near an equal share of peoople, eh?

Bad Brother Z. Bad!!!

Newsflash: having a "token" conservative to give the appearance your network is "balanced" doesn't mean they're not (secretly) dancing on the graves of Reagan and Falwell.

But more people watch O'Reilly than watch all 10 Olbermans combined. It's even because everyone can find the news that they want to hear. There may be more liberal news media outlets, but all the conks need is one, and they have it in Fox.

The problem is that places like Fox and MSNBC are not real news sources, they are mostly commentary or infotainment or whatever you'd like to call it. Real Kronkite-esque dry, boring, and fairly unbiased news reporting is pretty hard to find anymore. Guys like Ted Koppel and Tim Russert while often in bed with the subjects they reported on at least we're hard to read as far as their politics was concerned.

And while they're clearly partisan, Colbert and Stewart are about the only two reasonable sources of hard nosed, in your face news journalism left. I watch both for balanced, left and right reporting. :thumb:

I watches Fox for the sports, same as any others channel. If I wants news, I reads it from the newspaper or internet.

Well, you lost all credibility when you described Walter Cronkite as "unbiased".

NBC and MSNBC are the same, MSNBC is in conjunction with Microsoft. Duplication of effort, minus 10 points.

I thought CNN was "middle of the road."

NONE of them are real news sources----they ALL have an agenda. So do Colbert and Stewart, theirs is just to make fun of it.

Just sayin', to paint Cronkite as "unbiased" would be like saying Bill O'Reilly is unbiased.

The entire prime time schedule on Fox, O'Reilly, Hannity, Van Botox, is strictly commentary and opinion and is a waste of time, and I'm conservative. The only news show, if there is one anywhere, that I have seen on Fox is The Fox Report 7:00pm EST with Shepard Smith. It is straight news for an hour, no commentary, no pundits, and as best as I can tell Smith is a liberal.

There's a huge difference between being biased and informed. Cronkite was informed.

CNN is middle of the road, but makes too much sense for the republitards clinging to their anti-abortion, prayer in school, and corporate domination platform.

I too get much more value for my time seeking "news" elsewhere, but if it has to be the tube, Colbert and Stewart rule.

Guys, I've said it before a dozen times, if you want good, thoughtful news without bias, watch the Jim Lehrer NewsHour on PBS. It's on at 7:00 EST, 6:00 CST.

Try it.
