SIU to close doors?

I haven't saw this talked about here, and I'm shocked I haven't. Any SIU fans have any insight on this? I didn't realize Illinois is right with there with California in terms of financial trouble.
If the state doesn't start honoring its obligations to Southern Illinois University, the school may have to take drastic measures, possibly even making layoffs or shutting down in the spring, President Glenn Poshard told the Board of Trustees on Wednesday.

Is this an empty threat, or is there serious action being considered?

Threat. SOP in the State of Illinois. These stories always precede a push to raise the state income tax. Saw it 3 times before while living there.

True, although if funds do start getting cut they will be cut to the south end of the state first. Kind of a political version of the mammalian diving reflex. Think I'll resurrect the turnip patch come springtime, maybe put some meat out on the south pasture..... just in case..

Probably no more than it cost for some grains bins and hog houses in McLean County.

Must be why Illinois is the 45th happiest state in the United States.
