Good suggestion. Might I suggest an end to all religious beliefs or NON-religion beliefs bashing. We can all get along despite what one might hold a grudge against. Peace.

FWIW, My intention has never been to "bash." My intention is to take a reasonable look at the evidence presented and draw a conclusion from it. It's what we do in the "science" field, people ask very poignant, sharp, to the point questions... some people can't handle it, it's not a personal attack on you, it's a question attempting to derive a clear explanation. Some people blow up when you ask them a question, I've seen it happen during research presentations, I've seen it happen in these threads, it's not pretty. Some people choose to listen, some people choose to ignore... it's the ones who ignore who end up having their data/paper retracted in the future. I investigate because I'm trying to make an informed decision about religion... but the more I read, the more everything looks the same to me with a different "title." If anything I have said has come across as hostile, it was not my intention, it was more of an intention to provoke thought in hopes that I could get some answers/thought provoking questions in return.

This is truce is so christian-centric. Where was the truce on November 12th - the day we celebrate the birth of the flying spaghetti monster even though that's not his real birthday?

Just keep in mind I never said that church leaders during this time were angels. They did a lot of shit -- but so much of what gets said here is exaggeration. Like the church executed scientists or engaged in the slaughter of "millions" over the years.

That's my point. Not all "inquisitions" were the Spanish Inquisition. That doesn't mean the Roman Inquisition was a good thing.

And if you really study what happened with Galileo, I think you would conclude that many members of the Roman Inquisition used their influence to keep at bay angrier colleagues who might have lopped off his head. They managed to have his sentence converted to house arrest (in his own comfortable quarters where his needs were attended to), while allowing him to still study and write. The Galileo case started moving the Church into a more tolerant period.
