btw, isn't CNN breaking this news warning the potential targets?
The senior officials asked not to be not be identified because of the sensitive nature of the information. They both stressed the effort is aimed at being ready with options for the White House if President Obama orders a retaliatory strike. The effort is to see whether targets can be specifically linked to the airliner incident and its planning.
Great senior officials

This is part of a new classified agreement with the Yemeni government that the two countries will work together and that the U.S. will remain publicly silent on its role in providing intelligence and weapons to conduct strikes.
Officially the U.S. has not said it conducted previous airstrikes in Yemen, but officials are privately saying the Yemeni military could not have carried out the strikes on its own.
By all accounts, the agreement would allow the U.S. to fly cruise missiles, fighter jets or unmanned armed drones against targets in Yemen with the consent of that government.
I fucking HATE politicians. CLASSIFIED agreement. PUBLICLY SILENT. Do they have ANY concept of what those words mean?????
Politicians are fucking pieces of shit. Period. All of them.

Poorly kept secret.
Not to go all "Patriot Games" on ya, but I'm guessing these operations were planned months if not years ago, have already been set in motion, and may already have been completed. I'm also guessing the targeted bad guys fully expected retaliatory strikes, are savvy to our methods of intelligence and have most likely gone underground if they were ever above ground to begin with.
Cat and mouse.

90% of the time, these 'senior officials' are actually 'leaking' under orders.

Bad move - the Saudi's barely police their own peninsula, so why should we get involved? Do you really think that US involvement will scare them off or somehow endear them to us? It's no secret that many of the would be terrorists are either Saudis or Saudi funded - it's a different world there, Koran law or not. We've got enough issues policing the rest of the world. If we hit Yemen, then they'll start training in Norway, so then what?

Then again norwegians are notorious pussies and they have a fair amount of oil.
